Five people were killed in North Carolina after police say a car ran a stop sign and was run over by a tanker truck.
North Carolina Department of Crime Control and Safety spokeswoman Julia Jarema says three men were killed Friday night, ages 22, 23 and 25.
Jarema says two girls were also killed, ages 14 and 17.
All five were riding in a sedan that ran a stop sign on a highway near Dunn, about 30 miles south of Raleigh. Both vehicles then collided with an oncoming station wagon.
The driver of the station wagon suffered broken bones and was released from a hospital Saturday. The tanker driver, 41-year-old Ronnie Vanatta Jr., was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
