Jammu,March 27 (Scoop News) – Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Itoo while, replying to question by Naresh Kumar Gupta informed the House that about 5 lakh beneficiaries have been brought under the ambit of different welfare and pension schemes being run by the Social Welfare Department in the State. She said 406 camps have been organized to generate awareness among women about their rights and the benefits of the schemes of Social Welfare Department.
The Minister said that during 2010-11 to 2011-12, 230 suicide deaths among women have been reported in the State, adding that Social welfare Department and Police are organizing regular awareness camps on moral values among women to check this tendency. She said at district level a monitoring committee headed by respective Superintendent of Police stands constituted to ensure financial assistance to rape victims.
Subash Chander Gupta, Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri and Sheikh Ghulam Qadir Pardesi raised the supplementaries on the question.
6 lakh youth registered in employment, counseling centers: Malik
Minister for Labour and Employment, Abdul Gani Malik while replying to a clubbed question of Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri and Subash Chander Gupta informed the House that 6 lakh unemployed youth have been registered in district employment and counseling centers of the State upto ending December 2011. He said Rs. 27.66 crore have been disbursed among 58586 beneficiaries during 2010-11 and 2011-12 as voluntary service allowance. He said Rs. 38.71 crore have been sanctioned by JKEDI as seed capital among 1158 youth for setting up of own income generating units so far.
The Minister said that Khadi and Village Industries Board sanctioned Rs. 25.28 crore subsidies (margin money) among 2425 unit holders during 2009-10, 2010-11.
