The only drawback with punch bag workout is that you can develop bad eye habits. Many new boxers will either focus too much on a punching bag or they don’t look at the bag at all. It is not advised to look or stare at just a single spot for a period of time. Stay aware of the surroundings. Not looking at all at the punching bag is also not advised. Just maintain the balance.

Balance is the most important thing for boxers, this is achieved through punch bag training. Look to stand on your own feet and don’t fall over. If you have the perfect balance you will also get the much needed power in your punches.

  1. Don’t push, just Punch

New boxer make a mistake of pushing the heavy bag instead of punch it. You will achieve nothing if you do that. Don’t be afraid to punch as hard as you can. If you are wearing boxing gloves then there is no chance you can get injured.

Balance also comes if you properly ground your feet. This is very important when you are training to become a professional boxer. Once you are able to learn how to ground your feet while punching, you will also feel the power of punches also increase.

Moving hands, feet and head is so important during the punch bag training. If you are reluctant in these movements your opponent will punish you. The punching bag doesn’t hit you back, but your opponent will. So start practicing in front of a heavy bag, always move after you have finished punching. For this reason place your heavy bag in place where you can circle it and move freely.
