Flood damages at Chitral

DC Chitral briefed media person about damages of flood at Chitral.

CHITRAL:    Deputy Commissioner Chitral Muhammad Shuaib Jadoon briefed media persons about damages of flood at Chitral. He said that a booklet was completed by district administration which is a consolidated report based on information of line departments. He said that this booklet is easy to be sent to donor agencies to motivate them for donation and charity for flood victims of Chitral. He said that some 7 people have been died and one child died today at Mroi but he is still not reported.  80 houses completed damaged and 136 partially at different parts of Chitral. In live stock 71 cows and 24 goats killed in infrastructures 119 civil irrigation channel and water supply schemes 78 damaged. 34 links and valley roads damaged. Protection work 64 number and 38 bridges harmed. 23% standing crops damaged and 64544 trees. 21 micro hydro power houses were also damaged and the district administration also paid rupees 100000 per head to the family of deceased people.

119 irrigation channels damaged and its badly affected standing crops similarly 78 water supply schemes were washed away as a result people deprived from drinking water. 38 damaged bridges would be restored as soon as possible. He said 3 Mosques and 2 Jamat Khana were also damaged partially. Rehabilitation work has been started and we sent suggestion to provincial government to compensate rupees 20000 for cow and 6000 for goad killed in recent flood. We also proposed 50000 for fully damaged and 30000 for partially damaged house. He said that we distributed 123 tents, 145 food packets, 230 blankets and other goods among the affected people. He also thanked AKRSP, WASEP AKPBS and other NGOs for supporting district administration for supporting and compensating flood victims.

Heads of line department briefed the session about their progress regarding rehabilitation after flash flood. The participants also criticized irrigation and C & W department for poor performance. DC said that provincial government gives them quick response as well as Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is keen interest in rehabilitation of Chitral.
