JK Govt nothing to do with RS 10 Lakh for Panchayats : Mir

Jammu, September 28 (Scoop News)-Chairman All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference AJKPC, Shafiq Mir has strongly objected the statement of JK rural development Minister ,Ali Mohd Sagar, appeared in a section of media on Friday that Jammu Kashmir government would shortly release Rs 10 lakh for each Panchayat on yearly basis as development fund . Reacting sharply over the statement of Jammu Kashmir rural development and Panchayati Raj minister Ali Mohd Sagr that this amount was being given to Panchayats due to the efforts of chief minister Omar Abdullah, Shafiq Mir said that the statement of the minister was totally misleading and beyond the facts saying that JK rural development minister and chief minister Omar Abdullah has no role in this regard.

Mir said, in fact, the Panchayat development fund was demanded by the delegation of All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference during their meeting with All India Congress Vice president Sh. Rahul Gandhi at Delhi on 27th of September 2012 . And a written proposal was given to Congress Vice President by AJKPC delegation in which Rs 10 lakh for each Panchayat was demanded and same was agreed by Congress Vice president in the same meeting . Giving further details, he said this proposal was also discussed by Panchayat Conference leaders with then MoS home Mr Jatindra Singh on 28th of September 2012 at Jawahar Bhawan New Delhi which was also organized by Sh. Rahul Gandhi. . “ I wonder despite knowing the facts, how JK rural development minister was misleading the masses”, said Mir.

Mir further said that while fulfilling his promise , Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi had announced Rs 10 Lakh for each Panchayat as development fund on June 15th 2013 during his visit to Badgam in presence of union rural development minister Jai Ram Ramesh when he was there in connection with the launching of UMEED project in the district. And Rahul Gandhi had asked the union rural development minister to release the amount at earliest . “ It is very unfortunate that despite knowing the facts state rural development and Panchayati raj minister was misleading the public in general and Panchayat members in particular to gain the sympathy of Panchayats for the up coming assembly election”, said Mir .

Demanding the immediate release of this amount , Mir said that instead of searching the ways to mislead the Panchayats, minister should release the amount as early as possible so that the developmental process is carried forward. He further said that if National Conference really wants to empower the Panchayats it must extend the 73rd amendment of Indian constitution regarding Panchayati Raj in the state of Jammu and Kashmir . He suggested the NC leaders not to miss lead the public by uttering miss leading statements.
