People who accept Jesus Christ into their lives as their Lord and Savior, they begin living a Christian life immediately; and no, it’s not an easy walk but life “never” is easy anyway; therefore, a person must begin to work on their daily walk in life every day to keep it on track. When people accept Jesus Christ into their lives, they do it with the intention to walk as God would want them to walk; and if they make mistakes, they’ll ask for forgiveness and keep praying for God to strengthen their walk. People will “never” be sin free; and when we, as Christians, sin we must ask for forgiveness and not do it again.
A person who takes the step of accepting Christ into their life, this is the beginning; God is not finished with them yet. No, a person cannot accept Christ into their life and continue to live in the same manner as they’ve lived; but once a person comes to faith there’s a transformation that must take place in their life and that is reading and following God’s word and this will make their transformation easier for them. A person must get rid of their old ways and follow a Christian’s life.
God wants His children to live as is quoted in His word, Romans 8:29: “For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.”
His word reveals new Christians are to be conformed to the likeness of His Son; through this means a new Christian begins to be transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, according to 2 Corinthians 3:18. Christian’s take off their old garments and put on new garments of being a faithful servant to God.
Christians of God are to become more like the Son of God. God is our only Savior; He is our example, displaying how people should be like. People who believe in Christ, they take on a new identity and they have a new purpose for living their lives. When people take on their “new identity” is “child of God,” and their purpose in life is to be like God in true righteousness and holiness, according to Ephesians 4:22 – 24; and people are then to act responsibility like the new person they have become.
It is a real joy to wake-up and realize when a person accepts Jesus Christ into their life they’ve achieved a “new goal”, a new journey, a new recognition of life and how God wants them to live it…God wants them to be more like Jesus and this brings joy to their heart and soul when they realize what God was like when He lived in the flesh.
No human can make themselves Godlike; but God can and He will. When a person accepts God into their life, they’re agreeing to what He does in their life; and by the Holy Spirit working in their heart and mind, God is helping them to agree. “For it is God which works in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure,” according to Philippians 2:13.
A Christian person should be like Christ “in true righteousness and holiness.” In their morality and in devotion to God, they’re to be like Him. This is the purpose of living a Christian life; and this causes a person to grow to be more like Him too.
A person should gather in regular fellowships, living a life of faith making it evident that humans enter the Kingdom of God by putting trust in Jesus Christ. They should display that they’ve been changed on the inside, in their thinking and in their actions; and through this there’s a renewing transformation that’s in the person’s mind (Romans 12:2); and it’s a renewal of knowledge of the image of our Creator. (Col. 3:10) When a person thinks like Christ, they’ll be like Him.
A person is involved in doing God’s work but God is the one who does the work. A person can either resist His work, or they can submit themselves to cooperating with it. There are three practices in the history of Christianity, and they are: Bible study, worship and prayer. Most Christians find that these spiritual disciplines help them to present themselves to God so that He can accomplish His works in their hearts and minds.
These three practices should be a part of a Christian person’s life because each one acknowledges to God our need for Him to guide us:
(1) When we pray we should listen to what God is saying as the Holy Spirit may bring various thoughts to a Christian’s mind.
(2) Bible Study teaches the Christian to reject the devil’s temptations (Matthew 4:1 – 11). Christians need the word from the scriptures because they change our thoughts to be more like Christ’s thoughts. Worship helps Christians to grow and to be more like Christ. Jesus said that God looks for people who will worship Him sincerely (John 4:23).
(3) A Christian spirituality grows through their service to others, generosity, meditation, fasting, solitude, kindness, and lending a helping hand.
I many times feel God’s presence as I meditate upon His word and in prayer…this keeps me in tune with God and grants me a feeling of peace, comfort, and gratification. There are times in life that a person needs to give all their worries, sorrow, wrongs, problems and many other troubling things up to God and peace can be found through this type communication with God.
A Christian relies on God many times in their life and going to Him in prayer grants a relationship between them and God that’s like “no” other. Christians are children of God and it’s their duty to obey Him and to obey what He commands. Through His death on the cross, Christ purchased us (Acts 20:28) and people should obey what He says.
