Poetry From The Heart
Hollow eyes scowl from a window
stringy hair, chafed cheeks, and a frown.
A child’s unkempt appearance stuns
peeks up with a fretful face
pain and sadness in forlorn eyes.
She disappears from the skylight
someone warned her to abscond
uneasiness is instant…mind reacts.
Stand in the path wait a second
only a casement stares back
fear overtakes instincts
progress forward along the path.
Return to the transom look for the child
a tiny hand fondles the pane
the child stands, tears in her eyes
thumb in mouth…reaches hands out.
The brain causes pain in foreign settings
big sad eyes melts a heart
the unknown affects a soul
causes imaginations to conjure moments.
Must walk away but duty to inquire
continue to an appropriate place
big sad eyes melt a heart and soul
thumb in mouth…reaches hands out.
Big sad eyes linger in the senses …
hands reach to touch another’s spirit
to boost a hurting child’s cruxes.
