Udhampur, June 2, (Scoop News)_ Lt Gen DS Hooda assumed the appointment of Army Commander of Northern Command on Monday, a defence spokesman said .
According to the spokesman, the General was commissioned into the 4th Gorkha Rifles in 1976 and has extensive staff and command exposure.
He Commanded an Infantry Brigade in Kashmir and a Division in North East.
Prior to his current posting, Gen. Hooda was the GOC 16 Corps at Nagrota. His staff appointments include tenures at the Military Operations and Operational Logistics Directorates at the Army headquarters and Chief Logistics Officer at a United Nations mission.
He is an alumnus of the Canadian Forces Command and Staff college, Higher command and NDC.
Gen Hooda is privileged to have taken over this prestigious assignment and is committed to take forward the achievements of all officers and men of Northern Command who are performing the most challenging of tasks under highly demanding circumstances.
