6 children die of measles in remote area of Jammu & Kashmir state

Jammu, Sept 16: At least six children were reported to have died of measles and many others were taken ill in remote area warwan of Kishtwar district in Jammu division of Jammu and Kashmir state.

Reports said the measles started spreading from village Apati Muglai in Warwan and has virtually gripped entire Warwan area.

Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr Jasbir Singh has confirmed the spread of measles in Warwan and said Block Medical Officer (BMO) Dachchan along with 400 doses of measles has been rushed to Warwan himself along with medical teams.

 Dr Singh declined to confirm the reports of six deaths due to measles saying he was awaiting a report of BMO Dachchan as it takes two days to reach Warwan, bordering Anantnag district of Kashmir valley from Dachchan.Reliable reports, however, confirmed that six children have died of measles.
