VA employees at the local hospital in Phoenix, Arizona say they desperately need “suicide prevention training.” Training they are not getting now to help them deal with veteran suicides.
Reports of 6 suicidal veterans walking out the emergency room at the Phoenix VA hospital in just one week is both shocking and disturbing.
Its important to realize that when a veteran is suicidal and walks into a emergency room he or she is asking for help. Help they just are not getting in many cases because staff are not trained properly on how to deal with it.
The story first broke on ABC 15 news in Phoenix, Arizona on February 4, 2015.
