Beerwa/Srinagar, December 07 (Scoop News) – The Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Itoo said that 65700 beneficiaries including women and children were provided relief under various social welfare and ICDS schemes. She said 28000 anganwari centres are functioning in the state adding that a proposal for opening of 6000 more Anganwari centres have been submitted to the centre for approval.
Sakina Itoo was speaking on the occasion of Maha Awareness camp,organised at Beerwa, Budgam today by the ICDS and Social Welfare department jointly.
While inaugurated the Mela Sakina Itoo asked the people to send their children to the centres where nutritious food is provided to them free of cost. She said Chief Minister, . Omar Abdullah is keen for the upliftment of people particularly woman folk and children. She asked the officers to shun red tapism and solve the problems of people adding that no laxity on this account would be tolerated. She said present dispensation would leave no stone unturned to meet the urges and aspirations of the people especially belonging to weaker sections and below poverty line.
The Minister said that about 60000 old persons of the state would be brought under the ambit of Old Age Pension Scheme and its implementation will start soon as the matter has already been examined by the central government.
. Sakina Itoo also distributed 15 appointment orders among the Anganwari workers of Beerwa under Phase III. Besides, Rs. 2 lakh were provided to 20 widows under NFB scheme.
Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, . Mohammad Rafi, Director Social Welfare, . Hilal Ahmad Parray and concerned officers and a large number of people and Anganwari workers were present on the occasion.
