64th Republic Day at Leh, CEC unfurls tricolor

Leh, January 26 (Scoop News) – Like in other parts of the State, the 64th Republic Day was celebrated at Leh with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour. Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC, Leh Rigzin Spalbar unfurled the National flag and took salute at an impressive parade at Leh Polo-ground where nearly 10,000 people drawn from all walks of life attended the main function braving biting cold.

            Complimenting the people on the eve of India’s Republic day, Spalbar said that this is a day to take pledge by every citizen to contribute for the development, unity and prosperity of the country and our region in particular.

            The CEC said it is a day to evaluate our developmental progress and achievements over the past year and to plan out future strategies. He said if we look back in the 63 years of India’s republic, Ladakh too has achieved great developmental progress in every field and today it’s a district strengthening its political, social and economic ties at State and National levels. The State and Centre govt. too has been unbiased in providing all sort of grants and availing various schemes to ensure equal growth and development in this remote section of the country. He informed that at present more than Rs.100 crores projects are going on and in the recent one month projects of Rs.70 crores has been sanctioned that includes road upgradation projects under PMGSY, Leh town sanitation, drainage and sewage projects.

             Executive Councilor Health Dr. Sonam Wangchuk, Executive Councilor Tourism Gyurmet Dorjey, ADC, Leh Tsering Murup, SP, Leh Vivek Gupta, Councilors of  LAHDC, Addl. S.P P. Sonam, leaders of political, religious and social organizations and Distt. Officers were present on the occasion.
