65th Golden Globe Awards: Nominations

Though Fred found ‘Atonement’ to be the equivalent of a sleeping pill, the film is biting back by earning a plethora of nods at the 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards.

This British historical romantic movie starring Keira Knightley and James McAvoy is leading the competition for the 65th Golden Globe Awards with seven nominations, including Best Drama and acting nods for both its leads.

Crime saga ‘American Gangster’ starring Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington also landed nominations for Best Drama.

Other films that have received nominations in major categories include David Cronenberg’s ‘Eastern Promises’ starring Viggo Mortensen, Coen Brothers’ drama ‘No Country For Old Men’, George Clooney starrer ‘Michael Clayton’, Tom Hanks-Julia Roberts starrer ‘Charlie Wilson’s War’ and director Tim Burton’s Johnny Depp-starring grim musical ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’.

With major stars like Denzel Washington, George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Julia Roberts, Angelina Jolie, Jodie Foster, Johnny Depp and Cate Blanchett nominated for acting awards, it is evident the Golden Globes will be a glittering affair when they’re handed out in Los Angeles on January 13.
