Srinagar, January 26, (Scoop News)-65th Republic Day was celebrated across the Valley with great enthusiasm, gaiety and fervour today.
The Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats, Ali Mohammad Sagar was the chief guest at Republic Day function at summer capital, Bakshi Stadium Srinagar. The Minister unfurled the tricolour and inspected guard of honour. Later, he took salute of the parade, in which contingents of BSF, CRPF, ITBP, J&K Armed Police, IRP, Women’s Police Force, District Police, NCC, Fire & Emergency Services, students of various government and private schools participated.
Later, the Artists of State Information department, Cultural Academy and students of various schools, Youth Services and Sports presented a scintillating cultural bonanza on the occasion. The programme received a great applause from the audience particularly for the song, written by Late Sajad Hussain Geelani composed by Mir Munir and presented by a large group of students belonging to different government and private schools was liked by one and all, titled “Aye Kashmir, Too Hai Chand Taroon Ki Zamin, Aabsharun, Jeel Jarnu, Kohsaron Ki Zamin”
MLA Amira Kadal, Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA, Batmaloo, Irfan Ahmad Shah, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, IG Kashmir, District Magistrate Srinagar, SSP Srinagar and other senior civil and police officers were present on the occasion.
Addressing the function, Sagar said that Republic Day is the most significant day in the history of the country as the country has become Republic on this day and the Constitution of India, the basic framework of governance framed by great leader B.R. Ambedkar was implemented from this Day.
Recalling the sacrifices of great leaders of the country for strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and amity, Sagar said that leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, J.L. Nehru and Sher-i-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah laid a strong edifice for brotherhood, amity and communal harmony besides for the composite culture of the country.
He said that Sher-i-Kashmir worked for maintaining the secure atmosphere for minorities for which the Kashmiris should be proud of.
Referring to achievements registered by present government during last five years, Sagar said that the government worked for equitable development of all the three regions of the State and initiated various welfare and developmental programmes in the State besides the infrastructure development was given impetus through network of roads, chain of bridges, schools, colleges, hospitals and office complexes. Several welfare measures for poor and downtrodden were taken to improve the socio-economic status of the people in the State.
Enumerating the measures being taken to provide transparent and accountable administration, Sagar said that various legislations were enacted including RTI Act and Public Services Guarantee Act by the present government so that the people become empowered.
Speaking about the welfare of the youth, the Minister said that government launched various schemes like SKEWPY, UDAAN, UMEED and Himayat to provide employment avenues to the unemployed educated youth of the state by establishing their income generating units in various sectors to earn their livelihood with honour and dignity.
BUDGAM: The Republic Day was also celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety at Sports Stadium Budgam here today. The Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs Abdul Rahim Rather unfurled the National flag and took salute at the March past. The contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.
Speaking on the occasion, Rather emphasised on various values and objectives enshrined in the constitution like secularism, sovereignty and socialism. He also highlighted various fundamental rights guaranteed to citizens by the constitution and at the same time reminded people of their responsibilities towards the country which include safeguarding the Nation against communal and divisive forces.
The Minister urged upon the youth to come forward and co-operate with the Government in taking the State to the new heights of development and prosperity. He said during the last two decades of turbulence the State has suffered immensely in every sector and need of the hour is to work with dedication to bring it at par with other States of the Country.
The Information Department in collaboration with Education Department and Youth Services and Sports presented a colourful cultural programme on the occasion.
Among others, Deputy Commissioner Budgam, senior officers of Police and Civil administration were present on the occasion.
Republic Day was also celebrated by respective Tehsildars at all Tehsils of Budgam and SDM Khansahib also observed the day in Khansahib where many locals participated in the Republic Day celebrations.
KUPWARA: The main function was held at District Police Lines Kupwara where Minister for CA&PD and Transport, Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan unfurled the National flag and took salute. The contingents of CRPF, IRP, JKAP, JKP, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.
Speaking on the occasion, Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan stressed on the importance of Republic Day adding that the Constitution of the country was framed to envisage equality to all its citizens. He said that today the country is witnessing development in all spheres and the State of Jammu and Kashmir is also marching towards peace and development.
The Minister said that the State is endowed with immense water resources and need is to make judicious use of these resources for the prosperity of the State.
On the occasion, cultural items were presented by students of various schools.
Among others, Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, senior officers of Police and Civil administration were present on the occasion.
Similar functions were held at Handwara and Karnah Tehsils where Additional Deputy Commissioner Handwara, and Sub Divisional Magistrate Karnah unfurled the tricolour respectively.
GANDERBAL: The Minister for Forests and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad unfurled the National flag at Ganderbal and took salute at the march past. The contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that Government headed by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah has envisioned a prosperous Jammu and Kashmir and has done commendable job during last five years in providing livelihood to a large number of educated unemployed youth besides extended all possible facilities for setting up of self employment units.
Mian Altaf lauded the role of people in maintaining peace, amity and brotherhood in the State due to which development and prosperity was ensured in the State.

PULWAMA: The Republic Day was celebrated in Pulwama district and the main function was held at District Police Lines where the Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir unfurled the National flag and took salute on the march past. The contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister emphasized for the importance of the democracy in the country adding that era of peace, progress and prosperity has been ensured due participation of people in the democratic set up of the country. He said education has a pivotal role in transforming the State and enabling to achieve the goals of welfare and development.
Mir reiterated that basic amenities including network of roads, water, electricity and medicare facilities have been ensured in every nook and corner of the State. He said that various welfare and developmental schemes have been launched to improve the socio-economic conditions of the rural masses adding that agriculture sector has been prioritized to ensure economic development of the people.

BARAMULLA: The Republic Day was celebrated at District Police Lines, Baramulla where the Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services and Sports, Taj Mohi-ud-Din was the chief guest who unfurled National flag and took salute at the march past. The contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that during last five years of the coalition government, era of development and prosperity has been ushered in the State besides providing all basic amenities to the people in every nook and corner of the State. He said that amity, brotherhood and communal harmony have been the benchmark of the people of the State.
The Minister reiterated that efforts have been made to improve the economic status of the people by implementing various welfare and developmental schemes.

BANDIPORA: Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic zeal and enthusiasm at Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium, Bandipora where the Minister for Higher Education, Mohammad Akbar Lone was chief guest on the occasion who hoisted the National flag and took salute at the march past. The contingents of JKP, JKAP, IRP, CRPF, Forest Protection Force and School children participated in the march past.
Speaking on the occasion, Lone lauded the landmark achievements of present government and said that holistic and equitable development of all the regions of the State has been ensured by the present government besides reaching out to people in all areas has been made obligatory function of the administration.
He said that government has registered massive development in J&K State by making every effort to build a progressive, productive and developed State at par with other States of the country. He reminded the people about the glorious traditions of amity, peaceful co-existence, mutual brotherhood and tolerance of the State.
Lone said by ensuring quality education equipped with modern technological trends along inculcating moral and ethical values among students the government has taken various initiatives by implementing number of projects for the upgradation and development of higher education in the State. He said that by setting up of new colleges and universities across the State, students have been facilitated with quality education.

ANANTNAG: 65th Republic day was today celebrated with full fervor at Govt. Degree College for Boys Anantnag. Minister for Hajj and Auqaf and Public Enterprises, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed hoisted the National Flag and took salute on the march past.
Peerzada Sayeed while addressing the public on this occasion congratulated the people and commemorated the martyrdom of the freedom fighters with whose blessing is today being celebrating as 65th Republic Day. He said that the present coalition government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is working hard towards making the state self reliant in every sphere of life including economy, development, education, rural development and health.
He appealed people to maintain brotherhood, amity and communal harmony in the State prerequisite for prosperity and development.

KULGAM: Republic Day was celebrated with enthusiasm and gaiety in Kulgam district where Minister for Social Welfare, Ms. Sakina Itoo unfurled the National flag and took salute at the march past.
Enumerating the achievements registered by the present government during the last five years, Ms. Sakina said that people witnessed a golden era of development and prosperity in the State particularly in the fields of employment generation, power, drinking water, road communication, health and education, adding that fulfilling aspirations and developmental needs of the people received focused attention of the government. She said that implementation of flagship programmes for the welfare of the poor destitute and downtrodden people have received impetus during the present government.
A colorful march past was presented by J&K Police, CRPF, JKAP, Fire and Emergency Services, NCC Cadets and students of various schools. Scintillating cultural programmes were presented by school children and Department of Information.
Among others, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam besides all the district officers were present on the occasion.
SHOPIAN: Republic Day was celebrated with gaiety and fervour in the district. The Minister for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmad Mir unfurled the National flag at Fruit Mandi on the auspicious occasion of Republic Day and took salute at the march past presented by contingents of District Police, CRPF, IRP, JKAP, Fire and Emergency Services, Home Guard, NCC and students of various schools of the district.
Speaking on the occasion, the Tourism Minister said that after attaining freedom, the country has made strides in various sectors particularly education, science, agriculture, health, power and other fields. He said our country is the largest democracy in the world where everyone enjoys fundamental rights.
The Minister said the peace is imperative for the socio-economic development of the State and appealed the people to cooperate with the Government to maintain normalcy and peace. He urged upon the parents and teachers to take special attention of their children adding that children are the builders of the nation who need proper and quality education to make them civilized and responsible members of the society.
He said that comprehensive plan has been formulated for development of the district in various sectors to provide all the basic amenities and to make development of district Shopian on model type. He said that the J&K has made remarkable progress in different fields adding that implementation of short, medium and long term projects are in full swing. He appealed the people to come forward in a big way and take benefits of the schemes launched by the government for the welfare of the general masses.
Later, the Minister distributed prizes among the best cadets and students for presenting colourful cultural programmes. The Information department has also organized cultural programme on the occasion.
Among others, Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Additional Deputy Commissioner, senior officers of Police and Civil administration participated.
KARGIL: The Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil Haji Asgar Ali Karbalie hoisted the National Flag at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium Biamathang on 65th Republic Day and took salute at an impressive march past comprising of contingents of J&K Police, NCC, Army, Civil Band Party and students of Government and private schools.
Despite immense cold and freezing temperature of Minimum -19.8, thousands of People from the adjoining villages of Kargil gathered at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium Biamathang and celebrated the 65th Republic Day with patriotic fervor and gaiety.
Prominent among others present on the occasion, included Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Fida Hussain, Brigadier 121 Infantry Brigade, Superintendent of Police Kargil Sujit Kumar, head of Office AIR Kargil Nissar Naseem, senior civil and Army officers and Councillors of LAHDC, Kargil.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC Kargil said that democracy is that tool which makes the People the most powerful in the system and termed people as source of power of democracy.
Republic Day was also celebrated at Drass, Sankoo, Chiktan, Zanskar and other block headquarters of the district.
GUREZ: Republic Day was also celebrated with gaiety and fervour at the Tehsil headquarters Gurez where Sub Divisional Magistrate, Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Shah unfurled the National flag and took salute at the march past.
KARNAH: Republic Day was also celebrated with gaiety and fervour at the Tehsil headquarters Karnah where Sub Divisional Magistrate, Zahoor Ahmad Mir unfurled the National flag and took salute at the march past.
Meanwhile, the Republic Day was also celebrated at other Tehsil Headquarters where National flag was unfurled by the concerned Tehsildars.(Scoop News)
