Kabul: Six Afghan National Army soldiers and sevencivilians including four children have been killed in a suicide attack by the Taliban militants on Wednesday.
Spokesman of Afghan Defence Ministry Gen. Zahir Azimi told media reporters that a suicide bomber blew himself near a bus which was carrying ANA soldiers.
‘Six ANA soldiers and seven civilians among whom four are children have been killed and a number of them injured in the attack’ he added.
The bomber, according to eyewitnesses, rammed his explosives-filled car into the army bus in the morning rush hour. The civilians were the people going to their duties and workers of the nearest shops.
A spokesman to the Taliban militants, Zabiullah Mujahid, has claimed responsibility of the attack and told journalists on phone that the bomber was Abdul Rehman from eastern Khost province.
It is the third suicide attack within a week in the Afghan capital. The attack of yesterday had wounded 22 civilians which proved that the civilians are the main target of these kind of attacks.
In southren Afghanistan, Governor of Helmand province has said that Nato and Afghan forces have launched a new operation in the Musa Qila district where the Taliban militants were in control for past few months.
‘The operation is aimed to clean up the district from the militants and provide people security’ said Haji Assadullah Wafa, provincial governor.
