Jammu,March 25 (Scoop News) – Stressing the need to preserve the tribal and nomadic heritage of Gujjar-Bakerwal communities of Jammu and Kashmir by establishing ethnographic museum for them , the visitors of seven day long ‘Gujjar Heritage Exhibition’ which concluded here at Kala Kendera today, pleaded to propagate , disseminate and document various farms of Gujjar traditions by organising such fairs with regular intervals.
Organised by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages the show was earlier designed as part of ‘Three Day Gujjar Heritage Fair’ inaugurated on 19th of March .Later on public demand the ‘Gujjar Heritage Exhibition’ was extended for four more days .
Giving details Dr. Javaid Rahi, Chief Editor of Academy stated hundreds of people from all sections of society visited Kala Kendra and appreciated our efforts . He said nine hundred exhibits were on display in all the five. He said the event was designed to highlighted the old cultural Gujjar heritage included jewellery, art and artefacts, handicraft , costumes, folk medicines ,Photo exhibition of Gujjar Tribe.
Inaugurated by Mian Altaf Ahmed, Minister for Forest and Environment on 19th of March , dignitaries who visited the exhibition during last seven days include first lady Usha Vohra, Ch.Taj Mohi-ud Din, Minister for after Public Health Engineering, Devender Singh Rana , Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment, Political Adviser the Chief Minister ,Abdul Ghani Malik, Ch Aijaz Ahmed Khan , Minister of State for Haj and Auqaf, Ch Bashir Ahmed Naz Vice Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Gujjars- Bakerwals, Syed Mushtaq Bukhari, Vice Chairman State Advisory Board for Pahari speaking people, Kuldeep Verma, Vice Chairman of Other Backward Classes Board, M Y Taing , Deputy Chairman , J&K Legislative Council, Jahangeer Mir MLC , Ch Javaid Rana MLC, Ch Zulifkar Ahmed MLA, Farooq Nazki Media Adviser to J&K Government. Masud Chowdhary Former Vice Chancellor BGSB University, , R K Kalsotra President All India Confederation of SC/ST / OBC and high officials of State government , people from cross sections of society including writers ,poets, intellectuals, Academicians, Journalists, Students University, Colleges , Gujjar Bakerwal Hostels, appreciated the work exhibited in the exhibition.
Today on concluding day Abdul Ghani Malik , Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment visited all the galleries of Kala Kenrda and appreciated the display on all shades of Gujjar Heritage.He appreciated the Academy for holding this big event to highlight Gujjar Culture which form an important part of our collective identity.
