NCHD held Free Medical Camp for Flood victims’ people of Snoghur.
CHITRAL: National Commission for Human Development a Federal Government project arranged a free medical camp for flood affected people of Snoghur. Before launching the free medical camp a simple function was also held here. Tehsil Nazim Mastuj Shahzada Sikandarul Mulk was chief guest on the occasion. The program was started with the recitation from the Holy Quran. Ali Ahmad Chairman local health committee, Sh. Sikandar, Miss Gulshad Program Manager of Volunteerism thanked doctors of DHQ hospital for voluntarily examining patients in free medical camp. Addressing to the participants and patients she said that NCHD working in different sectors to promote spirit of volunteerism among the masses, civil society and to increase literacy ratio. She said that due to work hard by NCHD staff day and night now enrollment in primary schools reached to 95%. As well as NCHD also run ORS campaign for promoting a hygienic society and creating awareness among the masses regarding importance of ORS. She said NCHD has determined to provide all possible facilities to inhabitants of the area like health, education and creating awareness among the people.
She said that 1 child die in Pakistan after each 5 minutes due to deficiency of ORS or other health facilities. She said that 70 million people are illiterate in Pakistan majority of women folk are uneducated. For promoting of education in the area she said that NCH has opened some 460 literacy centers in Chitral for promoting literacy ratio as well as we conduct 4 Free Medical Camp a year in those neglected and backward areas where there is no health facilities.
Some 600 patients were checked up in free medical camp held at AKHS center Snoghur. Dr. Mehboob Hussain ophthalmologist (Eye Specialist), Dr. Saad Malook ENT specialist and Dr. Israr chest specialist examined the patients on volunteer basis. During the free medical camp medicines were also provided to patients free of cost. It is worth to mention here that Snoghur was a very beautiful area which was hit by tremendous floods on 29th June, 2007 as a result some 230 houses were damaged. As well as the only Basic Health Unit (BHU), girl’s middle, primary school grain godown and other government and semi government buildings were ruined by heavy flood. There is no road to connect the area to other villages because the only bridge was damaged by flood. NCHD arranged Free Medical Camp at this flood hit area where there majority of flood victims suffering from stomach diseases due to contaminated drinking water. Besides it there is no other health and civic facilities in the area. Residents of the area highly appreciated this step by NCHD and demanded for posting a Doctor to BHU.
Besides Doctors from Govt. side Paramedical staff of Aga Khan Health Service, local volunteers also performed duty on volunteer basis.
Man found died in room.
A man was found died inside of his room according to police station Mulkoh Nisar Khan who was working as cashier in Habib Bank Mulkoh (Varijun) branch was sleeping in his room inside a residential quarter of Basic Health Unit (BHU) Varigun. When his attendant tried to awoke him in the morning but he did not awake. As a result they broken door of the room and found Nisar Khan died. Police took his dead body in their custody and rushed to DHQ Hospital for postmortem so as to ascertain actual finding of his death. The deceased Nisar was youngest brother of Ameer Gulab Khan district and Session Judge Chitral who belongs to Ayun village.
