Srinagar, December 01, (Scoop News)-Social Royal Voluntary Environmental Service (SRVES NGO) in a program organised today on “World AIDS Day 2014 ” at their office premises revealed Some Jaw-dropping facts on AIDS scenario in Jammu & Kashmir.
C.E.O SRVES NGO Er.M.M.Idrees ul haq while talking about “AIDS in Jammu & Kashmir ” said
around 434 people have died so far in J&K from the deadly Human immunodeficiency Virus, while around 4000 people are living with the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) in our state .
According to Statistics Their are 4000 confirmed HIV positive cases registered in the State of Jammu & Kashmir including around 1893 AIDS cases. Out of these, 434 deaths have occurred so far.
In Jammu the number of persons with this deadly disease is more than as is seen in Kashmir ; as around 2649 patients are under treatment at the GMC&H Jammu including 1520 males, 935 female and 187 children, while in Srinagar only 366 get treatment at SKIMS which includes 280 males, 67 females and 17 children.
The statistics Revealed in program by CEO SRVES NGO further states that J&K State, have till now only managed to achieve 0.06% decline rate of diseases in high-risk communities and areas of the State.
In the year 2011-12 a total of 84511 have been diagnosed for HIV including 33555 general patients and 50956 pregnant women. Of this a total of 452 cases have tested positive including 426 general patients and 26 women.
Similarly, during year 2012-2013 with slight declining of 0.06%, a total of 82413 have been diagnosed for HIV including 28540 general patients and 48413 pregnant women, out of which a total of 341 cases were found positive including 331 general patients and 10 pregnant women.
