Three teenagers were shot and killed in northern Wisconsin on Thursday evening in what appears to be a random act of violence. On Friday morning, police reported that they have apprehended an armed man believed to be the shooter.
Tiffany Pohlson, 17; Anthony Spigarelli, 18; and Bryan Mort, 19, all from Michigan, were shot dead at around 5:30 in Niagara, WI, near the boarder with Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The gunman also injured Daniel Louis Gordon, 20. All four of the victims are from Michigan
As Tiffany Pohlson, Anthony Spigarelli and Bryan Mort attempted to swim in a Niagara river, the gunman emerged from the woods and started shooting the teens. A manhunt for the killer lasted almost 17 hours as local authorities assessed the situation and remaining safety risks. They evacuated area homes and set up roadblocks to ensure that the shooter not get away.
At 10:21 a.m. on Friday, authorities captured a man they believe to be the shooter. He is being held at the Marinette County Sheriff’s Department.
The families of Tiffany Pohlson, Anthony Spigarelli and Bryan Mort have not made a statement about Thursday’s shootings.
