Residents of Shekhandeh demanded for civic amenities.
CHITRAL: Shekhandeh is a very beautiful village surrounding by snow bound peaks and rich forest by four sides is situated on Pak Afghan border the last village of Kalash valley (Bumborate) its inhabitants are totally deprived from basic amenities. They were calling Red Kaffir in past belongs to Qurashi family who migrated in 1895 from Afghanistan to this valley as ruler of Afghanistan Ameer Abul Rehman was trying to forcibly convert them towards Islam but they refused and migrated here. Hence later on they embraced Islam in 1932. To attract attention of high ups an emergency meeting was held at Jamia Masjid Shekhandeh under the chair of Musa Khan chairman Parents teacher Council (PTC) that was also attended by a large number of elites of the area. After discussing different issues of the area the participants passed a unanimous resolution. Through a resolution they raised the issue that there is only one primary school and one Maktab School but there is no girls school in the whole valley they demanded for establishment of girls school because girls are totally deprived from education in the valley. They said that there are 300 house holds but there is no a single dispensary for them and they facing from different problems especially in winter season when main road of the valley block for all type of vehicular traffic due to heavy snowfall and they can not go to Chitral hospital they demanded for construction a Basic Health Unit in the valley. The stakeholders also criticized that they are deprived from communication network even in this era of information technology despite that a digital telephone exchange has already installed at Bumborate village having the distance of only 5 KM from here but they were not given telephone connection as 111 people have already registered their applications for phone connection. They demanded for installing cable for phone connection because in case of emergency they can not contact concerned quarter and that is why a Greek social worker was kidnapped from Bumborate but due to no communication residents of the area could not informed law enforcement agencies.
They also discussed the issue non availability of potable drinking water as women folk are still carrying drinking water in pitches on their heads from a far away area they demanded for providing them potable drinking water and carrying of pipeline. They strongly criticized stepmother attitude by some organizations with them as the village is situated adjacent on Afghanistan border but there is no employee in police, scouts and border police from this village. They demanded for recruiting youth of this village in border police force on priority basis. As well as approval of special quota in government jobs because due to no communication they not informing about any job vacancies. The participants also demanded for providing them electricity supply because there is no electricity in the area and students are badly suffering during reading and preparing for examinations. The participants determined and assured of their loyalty that they will fully cooperate with government agencies even to protect their borders from any invaders.
LAPH launched skill training for women folk.
CHITRAL: Legal Awareness Program for Human rights (LAPH) in collaboration with Chinar Arts and Craft center kicked a 15 days training in different skill like sewing, designing, cutting handicrafts etc. Miss Naseem Akhtar director Human rights Chitral was chief guest on the occasion who handed over a cheuqe worth 50000 to Khadija Sardar Managing director of Chinar Arts & Craft Center Chitral. Niaz Ali Shah chairman board of Director LAPH was also present on the occasion. Addressing on the occasion chief guest Miss Naseem Akhtar said that LAPH always-supporting women folk and enhancing their skill capacity to enable them to gain livelihood with a honor ways. She said that LAPH sponsored Chinar Art center to train some 16 women for 15 days in different skill. A large number of women folk attended training launching ceremony. The trainee women thanked LAPH for supporting them.
