There is a lot of talk about saving our planet and there are laws in place forcing things to be changed sometime between 2010 and 2020, depending on the action taken.
America: Without Gas is going to change things before that.
On April 1st, 2009 – endurance runner Ryon Lane, triathletes Lutz and Till Schenk and a yet unnamed endurance skate boarder will be setting off in Washington D.C. on the East Coast to travel across America by foot, cycling, boarding and swimming to raise awareness of the worlds dependency on oil.
America: Without Gas is a 100% sustainable adventure sports episodic filming the 4 athletes as they make their way across the country and through the seasons before reaching Santa Monica on the West Coast about 5 months later.
The athletes aim is to not only raise the viewers awareness about carbon neutrality and the global climate crisis in a fresh and entertaining way but by giving viewers easy ways to make a difference in their own lives in order to save our home – The Planet Earth.
During the Trip, the 4 human-powered travelers will be supported and filmed by a crew of two driver/cinematographers and Parker Lane (Ryon’s brother and personal trainer) riding in an alternative fuel vehicle such as GM’s Chevu Equinox Fuel Cell which last year accomplished over 300 miles without refueling and at Zero emissions.
During their journey, Ryon and Till will interview people from across the nation to find out what exactly the average American knows and thinks about topics like global warming, carbon footprints and sustainibility. Do people actually believe in global warming or follow the lead of some of todays politicians claiming that global warming does not exist. Wasn’t it George Bush who happily left a meeting of the world’s leaders to cut carbon emission with the words ‘good bye from the world’s biggest polluter’.
In each episode of the trip, viewers will follow legs of the journey that are intercut with:
– Relevant eco-facts presented in fun, relatable ways to help enrich viewer knowledge of the issues
– Convenient, stylish, sexy and cost-conscious ways to reduce personal and business carbon footprints
– Interviews by Ryon and Till with celebrities about global warming and the climate crisis – often as the athletes journey through the celeb’s own home town.
– Reviews and field testing of the latest and coolest eco gadgets and gear
– Tips on local eateries and attractions, where to find the best local markets and cuisines across the nation
– and MUCH, MUCH, MUCH MORE!!!
