Jammu, March- 21 – A major tragedy has been averted by Police and Army when they timely recovered huge grenades, arms and ammunition during a joint search operation launched at Dabbi Balakote in Mendhar of district Poonch in Jammu region on Saturday afternoon.

While one cylinder was filled with four AK-74 rifles, the other was containing 24 AK magazines, 420 rounds, four prepared IEDs, one transistor fitted IED, 15 Chinese hand grenades, one IED charger and an IED receiver, the sources said.
The huge recovery of arms and ammunition has raised curtain from the militants’ strategy to disrupt the forthcoming parliamentary elections in the State by executing explosions and fidayeen attacks.
Senior police and intelligence officers also reached the spot after the recovery, made by a joint team of army and local police.
There was Army deployment along fenced LoC to keep vigil and check infiltration bids by the militants.
Meanwhile, a hideout of terrorist was busted by Police and Security forces at Shukra Nallah in Gandoh in Doda today. Some arms and ammunition recovered from the busted hideout which included, two IED’s one fitted in a cooking Pressure cooker weighing 10 Kilogram and other one fitted in 5 litres mustered oil tin weighing 15 kilogram, 17 AK 47 rounds., One Mobile Hand set (damaged) one torch with cells and one IED Charger.
