A music concert by Bangalore School of music

This was the first concert by Bangalore School of Music (BSM) at its new building, the East West Center, last Saturday.

Perhaps because of the weekend or because of the good reputation that BSM has acquired over the years, the mini auditorium was packed and people were even sitting on the steps!

After the customary speech by Mrs Aruna Sunderlal, Director of BSM, the event began with the quartet (Jobi, Noel, Carol and Biswas) playing La Polama and Swan lake. Young Jasiel Peter who played ‘Binks Waltz’ by Joplin had the audience enthralled with his superb spicatto playing.

The Senior Chamber orchestra, led by the renowned conductor, V Narayan Swamy, then  took stage, playing Hungarian dance # 4, La Cumparisita and Mexican medley – to name a few. The emotion was palpable when the orchestra played the prayerful Panis Angilicus.
