Despite plenty of competition, subscription boxes continue to thrive in 2019. You can find a subscription box for just about anything these days, like toys and books, and boxes with fashion curated just for kids. One of those subscription boxes is kidpik.
Top-ranked by My Subscription Addiction readers as one of the “Best Monthly Kids Boxes for Ages 12 & Under,” kidpik offers a monthly subscription of outfits for girls. The outfits are curated according to each subscriber’s style profile created by answering a series of questions about style preferences.
Launched in 2016, kidpik is the creation of NYC kids fashion entrepreneur Ezra Dabah. Dabah has been working in kids’ fashion for thirty years, and created kidpik to bring convenience to the experience of shopping for fashion.
What’s in each kidpik box?
Each kidpik box contains 7 high-quality items: three mix-and-match coordinated outfits including tops, bottoms, shoes, and accessories. Each box also comes with a free gift. The boxes come with a prepaid return envelope in case you want to return or exchange something.
The clothing sizes range from 4-16, and footwear sizes are 9-6.
If your child loves dressing up, kidpik has a special dressy box available that comes with a fabulous dress, matching shoes, comfy jacket or shrug, and of course, a free gift.
Risk-free style delivered to your doorstep
Kidpik boxes come with free shipping, free returns, easy exchanges, and amazingly, no upfront payment for each box. When you receive your box, you have seven days to decide if you want to keep the items and check out online, or return the items for free.
Kidpik is a flexible subscription; you can choose to receive a box every 1, 2, or 3 months.
What makes kidpik exceptionally convenient is the ability to return or exchange individual items. For instance, if you receive a box and your child loves everything but the shoes, you can send back the shoes. Or, if she only likes one top, you can send back everything but the top. If your child loves a pair of jeans but needs a different size, you can exchange them for free.
If you choose to keep the whole box, you’ll receive a 30% discount. The average cost per item is $13.50; the average cost per box is $75-$100.
It’s easy to select the items you want to keep or return
Through the kidpik website, you can log into your account and select the items you want to keep or return. If you keep the whole box, your 30% discount will be applied. Otherwise, each piece is individually priced.
If you’re feeling philanthropic, you have the option to donate the pieces of clothing you don’t want, provided you take the 30% discount for the whole box.
Kidpik donates clothing to girls in need
Take the 30% keep-all discount, return the items you don’t want, and kidpik will donate them to girls in need through a program called Girls Give Back. Whatever items you decide to donate, Kidpik will match.
For the donations, kidpik has partnered with the GOOD+ FOUNDATION® – a national non-profit that “works to dismantle multi-generational poverty by pairing tangible goods with innovative services for low-income fathers, mothers, and caregivers, creating an upward trajectory for the whole family.”
Donating through kidpik is easy, and requires little effort. Just log into your account, select the items you wish to donate, place the items in the prepaid envelope and drop it in the mail.
Moms love fashion subscription boxes
Moms love the benefits of having kids’ fashion delivered to their door. They don’t have to spend countless hours scouring stores to find the right top. Subscription boxes eliminate the need to stand in line at the fitting room and fuss with multiple sizes when a brand has inconsistent sizing.
Subscription boxes are here to stay
Some say subscription boxes are a passing fad, but fashion boxes make shopping convenient for parents, and it’s unlikely they’ll ever want to give that up.
We might see some other subscription boxes fall by the wayside, but it seems kids clothes are here to stay.
