Kathmandu, Nepal March 14, 2013: Ending the fury of finding a solution the Nepal’s Political leaders have agreed to make the current Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi as the new prime minister of Nepal ending a 10-month long political vacuum. Leaders of the four major political parties have finally agreed to form an interim election government to remove hurdles of 25 articles of the Interim Constitution by invoking Article 158, to pave the way for the formation of a new interim election council by June 21, 2013.
As per the signed the 11-point political agreement signed at the secretariat of the Special Committee at the International Convention Center, New Baneshwar, and the new government will have 11-member interim government which will set a new date for CA polls by December 15, 2013.
According to the 11 point agreement a new government would be formed under Article 38 (1) of the Interim Constitution which would pave way for the election. The newly form CA will have 491 members, of these which 240 members will be elected under the first-past-the-post electoral system and 240 will be elected under proportional representative quotas while 11 members will be nominated by the cabinet on the basis of political agreement.”
