There is trouble brewing between pilots of Air India and India’s richest Member of Parliament, P.V. Abdul Wahab. It started when the rich MP arrived late and delayed the flight from Calicut in Kerala (South India) to Dubai.
Captain Rajat Rana of Air India refused to take off until the MP was offloaded from the plane. The rich MP in turn insulted the pilot, calling him a glorified driver and telling him not to equate himself with a peoples representative (himself)!
In India MPs, Ministers and MLAs, cause untold suffering and misery due to:
1. Their public meetings where they hire thousands of villagers and cart them to the cities to create an impression of being popular,
2. Create traffic jams and make the public wait while their motorcade passes,
3. Misuse their authority in overriding rules and laws of the country.
4. Amass money and ensure that a single term in office is sufficient to take care of their next three generations.
5. Incite passions within communities by uttering foolish and irresponsible statements.
In this scenario, I admire the forthright stand of Captain Rajat Rana. In standing up to the rich influential and powerful MP, he is a true hero of the peoples of this country. His photo and name should be published in every textbook so that our future citizens can draw their inspiration from him.
Captain Rana, we salute you!
