A Scent Of Cedar In The Old House

Candles flicker throughout the room
shadows rebound like ghosts roaming
aged eyes tic back and forth unsure of time
inclining to and fro in a seasoned rocking chair.
A melody of a piano plays in the background
memories of passions fill the older man’s mind.

A scent of cedar is common in the old house
she had wanted this aroma to exist in the air.
Her picture sets on a table smiling at him
life was full and fulfilling for many years.
He strokes the picture in a special tender way
as though she is alive and there beside him.

Fields to be plowed and crops to be reaped
evenings a jiffy to recreate happy times
igniting an existence in a dead body and scarred mind.
Candles flicker throughout the room like ghosts roaming
magnifying an urge to feel her warm body against his…
these times are his treasures and happiness’s.

Candles flicker throughout the room like ghosts roaming
leaving a sense of desires and wishes for her return.
