A Shepherd’s Watch

A Poem From Barbara Kasey Smith’s Corner Of The World:

A shepherd trails sheep into the fields
watches their comings and goings
ensures they’re free from harm;
lays his head down to sleep at night
knows his herd’s confident he’s there;
stars and moon light up the earth around them.

The shepherd’s like God watching over His people;
He listens and is quick to come to their rescue.
God’s our keeper and the shade upon our hands;
He loves His people as He loves His herd.
His eye is on them as it’s on the sparrows
never forsaking or leaving them in dark hours.

God guides the righteous in their pathways of life;
bringing joy, happiness and pleasure to them.
Our belief in Him brings richness to our hearts;
fills our souls with His Holy Spirit and love.
God’s like the shepherd caring for His flock;
He grants them grace and strength to persevere;
a heart to desire His will and strength to do it.

We’re safe in God’s eternal arms;
He’s our refuge, protector, and our leader.
He’s there supplying needs in one way or another;
never failing to furnish the needs of His people.
God’s our rock, our foundation, our strength and song;
He’s our salvation and grace in our dark hours.
