Unknown miscreants have hacked to death a leader of Swechchhasebak League on the road near the Moghbazar intersection in capital of Bangladesh. His name was Mahbubur Rahman Rana, who was 28-years of age, and was also a leader of the ruling Awami League’s volunteer wing’s Ramna unit as well. The victim’s friends and family claimed that he was killed for his actions to stop a local drug peddling business. Rana lived at Moghbazar’s east Nayatola area situated in Dhaka.
Ramna Police told that they rushed to the scene after getting news that he was attacked and hacked there around 6:30pm local time on Thursday. Police also found two handmade bombs and a blood-soaked machete at the crime scene. Doctors declared that he is dead after local people rushed him to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital after this incident. His dead body is still there for autopsy.
Ripon, a friend of Rana, who was also with him at the time of the attack, told the news reporters at hospital that they were coming from a local club riding on two separate motorcycles. “The road was full of traffic jam and Rana was in his motorcycle in front of me. A man, who was wearing a helmet, was the man who first hacked Rana in his head. Rana fell from his motorcycle at once.”-He said. He also said that two bombs exploded at that time and he also heard several gunshots simultaneously.
Police said that they are investigating the matter. They also said that, they will catch people behind this as soon as possible.
