Taking for truth a criminals own explanation is about the stupidiest thing we could ever do.
Attacks like those in Paris are penal by all laws. So there is nothing to discuss. It’s the job of the police and the court to investigate what’s behind: Who is financing this, which organization has planned this, what is the purpose of such attacks (if there is any). But if the criminals succeed in having the majority believe in their smoke curtain of some supposed retaliation for some event that happened years ago, who will ever investigate any further? We’ll never know what’s really behind those attacks. Very smart.
It’s a bit like kidnapping people to do illegal medical experiments on them, dressed as an alien. Before you know it, millions of people actually either believe it was aliens…. or that those kidnapped are lying…. Again, very smart. Nobody ever investigates any further.
Surely, the reason the majority falls for those smoke curtains is of course the simple fact that it is more comfortable to think the danger is there, not here. If only the criminal can be identified as belonging to some faraway, foreign group, it even gives a feeling of safety, knowing we’re together against ‘them’. To think that some well-educated doctor would be capable of corruption and perform illegal experiments…. maybe on your own self, that’s simply too shocking to consider. While a little study on human subject experiments would teach us that of course also among the medical professionals would we find criminals.
So back to Paris, why all this attention for what the criminals themselves declare would be their motivation? Why not just laugh and say, well we never buy a criminals own explanation because we can’t trust a criminal. And move on to give the attention to the victims instead. And let the police and courts concentrate on investigation of the truth behind, something journalists should also do but unfortunately most of them don’t?
There is no point in discussing ‘reasons’ for evil deeds, as such penal by law, as they are per definition devoid of all reason. Such a ‘discussion’ will only give some people the idea, there actually IS something to discuss. Making the problem only worse, which might very well be exactly what the criminal organization behind those attacks wants. Without realizing it, we might be supporting them by this wrong kind of attention. So we should wake up.
