The Association of Architects Builder Interior Designers and Allied Business – (ABID) had conducted a seminar recently which was held on 30th January 2016 At ITC Sonar Bangla. The event witnessed speeches of extremely eminent speakers who are architects and reputed builders. The main motto of this whole day session was actually to make people aware about Green Building.
What is Green Building?
Green Building is how efficiently resources like energy, water and materials can be used. Recycled materials are used and the buildings are so designed as to minimize the emission of toxic substances in its entire life cycle.
Why Go Green?
Use of Plantation Fibre like teak wood is extremely important as greenery is getting depleted from our planet, really fast. We seek for a future which is largely based on sustainable design. According to a personnel form Greenply, “It’s high time to adopt Green Design and let us be together to make this actually happen.”
Believe in Nature
Mrs Kiran Gala of Kiran Gala and Associates feels that, it is extremely important to believe in natural objects which gets recycled and renewed. So, go ahead, get back to the lap of nature as nature is our only resort.
He believes that, this can be achieved by taking certain smart steps.
- Stop Junk mail
- Avoid battled water (As per a study, 16 billion waste bottles will be there by 2018) only 0.7% water will be drinkable, that will only be left for us which will be fit for consumption.
- Recycle your waste products
- Conserve energy. Try shifting to solar power.
- Green Transportation System
- Eat Healthy food
- Have chemical free food, clothes
- Raise eco-conscious children
- Continue to educate yourself as then only you can educate others.
- Build a strong Community as we have only one home our mother Earth to take care of it and make it greener.
Hindrance in Going Green
The builders also discussed about the problems our society faces. Sudipta Singh, an eminent speaker discussed that, there is necessarily a huge gap of knowledge which does not allow the people to analyze property. You can actually also find a lack of honesty and sensitivity. Lack of clarity in policy enforcement can also be regarded as a hindrance to green building.
Not only the environment will get benefitted but the overall society will enjoy a greener society. Architectures need to try implementing “Green Concept” in existing flats and apartments. This seminar was highly enriching for all present in the occasion as many of the people are still unaware about, what green design is and why to implement it. This program was truly an eye-opener for them,
So, think green and go green as that can only build a better future.
