ABORT LANDING @ TOKYO

 

Inaugural flight of A-380 Singapore Airlines from Changi Airport, Singapore to Narita airport, Tokyo at 20/05 abort landing. The plane made safe landing at Chubu Centair Airport, Nagoya before continue to Tokyo. The problem was the heavy storm hitting Narita airspace. The pilot decided abort landing and contact alternative airport to make a safe landing. Osaka was the first alternative airport for landing after Nagoya airport rejected due to low of fuel storage in site. But later on, the Nagoya Tower contacted and allowed SQ-636 to land at Nagoya Airport because of fuel storage miscalculation. After the storm over, the airplane continue its flight to Narita.

The flight number SQ 636 carried 471 passengers and crews. The Aircraft was piloted by Baldev Singh(capt.). The airplane took off at 00:20 singapore local time and travelling about 7 hours before landing at Narita Airport, Tokyo at 08:30 Tokyo local time. Narita Airport was also celebrate it’s 30 years anniversary that day. the Airport laid at Chiba Prefecture about 70 km outside Tokyo ring. Record said that for 30 years, the airport had served 3,54 billion of landing and 680 million arrival passengers. IATA with 170 members announced that Narita is in number 24 biggest passengers serve airports.

 

Tokyo was hit by a bad storm with wind of speed 105 km/hours the day. It caused by air pressure decreasing in fast and suddenly at Honshu shore, wwestern from pasific ocean.

East Japan Railway, Co. Delayed the train from serving the line due to heavy storm condition. All Nippon Airways cancel 15 domestic flight that morning. All airplanes planned to land at Narita had to divert to Nagoya airport.

 

Report said that cancelation landing had cost the Airlines about another additional 20,000 tonnes of gas, landing fee and food catering to Nagoya Airport. Airlines said that they will prioritize passengers safety even they have to pay more to win the customers and brand value.
