Action sought against negligence of Pakistan Post office

CHITRAL:  Action sought against habitual negligence and failure of Pakistan Post Office causing for nuisance of public. A federal government servant in Chitral told this scribe that he has submitted his documents in a federal government department for a higher post and he was issued call letter on 12 April to appear for test interview on 29 April at Islamabad but he received call letter on May 18 after expiring the last date and thus faced great loss. A local journalist G.H. Farooqi complained that he has sent a registry video tap on April 17 vide receipt No. 1451 international Tag No. RA000256409PK to Athens Greece from General Post Office Chitral. It was carried to Peshawar on 19 April by PIA flight but was processed by Post office staff at Railway station on 26  April and was sent to International Mail Office (IMO) Karachi under their dispatch No 11/11.  But the shipment not delivered to its destination even passing more than one month.

A written complaint was also sent to Director General Pakistan Post offices Islamabad on 10 May 2010 regarding non delivery of registry. When this scribe contacted Director General Post offices Islamabad his PSO told that they sending mail to foreign countries but custom department delay them without any reason. When services of private companies bring to his notice that no mail was delay sent by private courier companies and the same delivered within 2 days the female spokesman of Post office replied simply that private companies perusing their shipments but there is no such system in Pakistan post office.
On contacting IMO they told that the same was forwarded to Greece vide No. 1, Line No. 8 by flight No PK 207/LH631/3380 on 28 April 2010. But when the journalist contacting Athens at Greece office they informed that they still not received the same registry. It was revealed that some black sheep working in Pakistan Post office deliberately delay and misplacing some letters even registry and parcel so as to fail this national organization. A employee of Pakistan Post office on condition of anonymity disclosed that some staff getting commission from private courier companies and trying to fail this organization so as that people hesitate to send their mail through Pakistan Post office and they will approach to private companies automatically. Especially services of Pakistan Post office at Chitral are very questionable and poor. Any letter from or to Chitral never delivered timely. The journalist warned that if his registry (Documentary Film) was misplaced he will approach the court of Justice against Pakistan Post office GPO Chitral including DG Post office claiming for 10 million as damage case.

 Residents  of Chitral has appeal President and Prime Minister of Pakistan as well as   Federal Minister Postal Services and Secretary to the government of Pakistan ministry of Postal Services and high ups of Universal Postal Union (UPU)  for taking stern action against habitual negligence, malpractices and failure of delivering shipment timely. Exemplary punishment sought to black sheep in Pakistan post office working as an agent for private mailing companies and trying to fail this national organization. They also demanded for improvement in mailing system especially international mailing services so as to attract consumer to send their letters abroad through Pakistan Post office.
