Although actress Ale Fips is still relatively young she has already made an indelible mark on the Latin American entertainment industry; and, with several upcoming projects in the works in the United States it won’t be long before her name is known across North America as well. A truly dedicated actress whose craft knows no bounds, Ale Fips’ unparalleled talents have landed her starring roles in feature films, hit television shows and acclaimed theater productions.
Recently Fips played the starring role of Julia la Guera in Ignacio Rinza’s feature film El Buchon. The film reveals the cutthroat reality of how drug cartels in Mexico do business. Living by their own laws with the police in their pocket, the film gives viewers an eye-opening experience into the ruthless cartel world where human lives are taken without remorse and justice only comes from opposing cartels.
Fips gave a knockout performance in the role of Julia la Guera, aka Guera, the daughter of a competitive cartel leader who falls in love with El Buchon, the leader of another dangerous cartel.
“They tried to hide their love, because it’s simply not allowed, but he is not a one woman man,” said Ale Fips about the relationship between her character and El Buchon. Far from the star-crossed lovers dynamic found in Rome and Juliet, the relationship between Guera and El Buchon is one-sided and deadly. After Guera tries to convince El Buchon to leave his cartel and join her father’s so their love can flourish in the open, he brutally murders her and continues on with his life with little remorse.
“I loved playing Guera because she is a fierce woman who believes love is the answer to everything, unfortunately in the case of this story love simply does not exist in the world of the cartels. I’m very passionate about this film in particular because it allows viewers to see the reality of the cartel world. In Mexico they rule everything, if you cross them you are killed, it is not a fairytale,” explained Fips.
In El Buchon Ale Fips stars alongside multi-award winning actor Luis Fernando Peña from the films Pulling Strings, El Shakka, The Girl, Sleep Dealer, The Last Silence and the hit televsion shows Teresa, Fuego en la sangre and Locas de Amor, as well as Gerardo Taracena from Apocalypto, Man on Fire, Get the Gringo, The Violin and The Zone, and Mariana Ávila from La Segunda Noche, La Última Noche, Violent Memories, Retrato de Familia, and many more.
While El Buchon shows Ale Fips’ talent for the action genre, her roles on Televisa’s mega-hit television series La Rosa de Guadalupe, and Código Paranormal prove the diverse nature of her craft. Fips is no newcomer to the acting world; in fact she began her career in theater at the age of 8. While she has since become a go-to talent for multiple film and television productions, the glitz and the glamour of the screen are not enough to pull her away from her work in the theater.
The actress is currently working on the exciting upcoming theatrical production “Judgment on a Gray Beach,” which will open at New York’s La MaMa theater in 2015. An experimental work derived from the writings of Franz Kafka, “Judgment on a Gray Beach” follows Ale Fips in the role of Leni, a destitute nurse who dreams of being a ballerina. The production is being directed by multi-award winning director Elia K. Schneider who is know for the films A Dot and a Line, Desautorizados, Huelepega: Ley de la Calle, and many more.
