Adbee Markaz observes international mother tongue day

 

 

Srinagar, February 21 (Scoop News) – Adbee Markaz Kamraz (AMK), on Monday reiterated its resolve to struggle for preservation and protection of Kashmiri language and sought support of Civil Society in taking it to the logical end. 

 

A function was organised in Srinagar today in connection with International Mother Tongue Day.

Speakers highlighted the importance of the language and noted with satisfaction the progress made in this direction during past few years. They acknowledged that government had taken concrete steps introduce the language in the schools up-to 8th class and urged the authorities to take it to 9th and 10 classes accordingly as a compulsory subject. The speakers reminded the Education Minister of his assurance given on the floor of the house that the language will be introduced in 9th class from the coming academic session. 

 

AMK members also acknowledged the role of people in supporting the struggle and sought co-operation of civil society in taking it to the logical conclusion.
