ADGP asks CD Volunteers to help in snow clearance

 

 Srinagar, February 01 (Scoop News) –Additional Director General of Police, Civil Defence, Home Guards and Auxiliary Police, Ms. D.R. Doley Barman has requested the Civil Defence volunteers to assist the civil administration and people in snow clearance, in view of the forecast of snowfall. Ms. Doley appreciated the CD Volunteers for the voluntary contribution and dedicated work exhibited by them, while extending assistance to the civil administration in snow clearance throughout the Valley, during the recent snow fall. She encouraged the CD Volunteers to continue contributing with the same dedication and spirit in future.

 

 

            Meanwhile, Addl. DG directed the DIG, HG, CD & Auxiliary Police, Kashmir to deploy two specialised & trained Search & Rescue teams comprising of 10 personnel each of State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and directed them to remain stationed at Civil Defence Control Rooms of Kupwara and Anantnag, in order to immediately assist the District Administration, in conducting rescue operations in the eventuality of heavy snow fall. ADG has authorized the respective DCS to utilize the services of the SDRF teams and Civil Defence volunteers in the case of any eventuality or emergency.

 

 

            Civil Defence in collaboration with Divisional Administration, many youth from community have been trained in First Aid, Fire fighting, Search and rescue. The trained youths are engaged as Volunteers of Civil Defence after completion of their training. Many students of Higher Secondary Schools as well as Colleges have been imparted the disaster preparedness training. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon has given instructions to the Disaster Management Cell to take up disaster preparedness training programmes for school children on a mass scale as well as training of doctors in mass casualty evacuation, so that the community is prepared to face any emergency.
