Kabul – Terrorists killed a young Afghan journalist Abdul Samad Rohani, 25, last night.
Officials confirmed he was kidnapped Saturday afternoon and his dead body was found today near Lashkargah, the capital of southern Helmand province.
Rohani was working with BBC Pashto service and Pajhwok Afghan News agency and was known as a brave journalist who reported the true situation of the volatile province.
In a recent report, he had shown a picture of the five years of the province’s economic development. The photo had apparently irked some in the area who are opposed such changes in their province. In the past, teachers, doctors and construction workers, have been killed in such matters, according to a journlaist in neighboring Kandahar province.
Eyewitnesses in Helmand said that Rohani has recieved three bullets in his chest and shoulders.
The Afghanistan Independent Journalists Association (AIJA), as well as the BBC, Pajhwok Afghan News, government NGO’s and civil society organizations have condemned this brutal murder.
