The European Commission in Brussels continues to investigate some airlines and websites over the practice of misleading consumers regarding online tickets sales in the European Union. The investigation focused on the practices of pricing, availability and fair contract terms.
After two years of investigations, the Commission found that only 16 of the 67 airlines complied with its online advertised pricing. Initially investigated were 386 websites that sold airline tickets. 137 of those sites investigated required some type of enforcement action for confirmed breaches of consumer law. As a result, 115 websites out of those 137 have been revised.
The airlines in compliance with the standards of the the Commission are AirMalta, Blue1, BMI, BMIbaby, Estonian Air, Finnair, Iberia, Malmö Aviation, SAS, Sata Air Açores, Sata Air International, Spanair, TAP, Tarom, TUIfly, and Virgin Atlantic.
