Akhoon stress for launching sustained campaign to create awareness

 Jammu, January 31(Scoop News) – Minister for CA&PD and transport,  Qmar Ali Akhoon has underscored the need for launching a sustained campaign to create awareness among the masses about the need for saving of oil & gas to ease the economy of the nation from a huge burden.

            Minister was speaking at the valedictory function of Oil & Gas conservation Fortnight-2011 organized by oil & gas industry here today.

            Fortnight started on January 15 during which   a series of activities were organized to aware the people, particularly young generation about the importance of the conservation of petroleum products.

            The activities included seminars, debates, painting competitions, essay writing of articles slogans in schools & colleges, besides awareness camps for household, transport operators and other establishments who use the products as fuel. 

            Minister appreciated the student community for taking active part in launching awareness for saving of energy and asked them to spread the message about the importance of fuel conservation among their families’ relatives and neighbours. He said saving of petroleum products will greatly help in reducing   the import of this expensive fuel and ease the burden on the   economy of State and country.  He asked them to adopt conservation of fuel as an objective of their life as it would guarantee a prospective future for all.  He also asked the oil companies not make the campaign an yearly ritual but propagate the message of oil conversation throughout the year through their well established network of distributors and dealers among the consumers.

            State Level coordinator  Vikas Behal also spoke on the occasion and threw light on importance of conservation of petroleum products.

            Later Minister distributed prize of  Rs.30,000 to  Maliha Batool, BA 2nd year of Government Degree collage Doda and Rs. 25000 to Ms. Deepika Pandita 12th class of SOS school bagging 1st and 2nd in National level Essay Competition held on the subject.

Besides prizes were also distributed among those students of various educational  institutions  who bagged positions in debates,  seminars, symposiums, slogan writings, article writings, painting competitions, essay etc. 

            The function was attended by representatives of various oil & gas companies, dealers, distributers, transporters & students of various school and colleges.
