If You want to pay up to $500,000 for a GM original from 1928, then the RM Auctions event in Michigan is the place to go right now. It’s a 1928 Cadillac V8 Town Sedan and was purchased by Al Capone. But what’s really special about this Caddy is that after he purchased the Car, he took it right to the body shop. When he got it back it looked nothing like the original. It was 3000 pounds heavier, because he ordered steel armor and 1- inch thick bulletproof glass, to protect him from his enemies (Police). So he had the car painted to mimic the police cars used in the 1920’s. It also featured a siren and a searchlight mounted on the driver’s side roof pillar.
The Car was also equipped with a machine gun port and 90 horses. So Yes the Car is heavier than a Honda Fit and the engine makes 30 less horsepower. Capone sold the car in 1932 ( around the time he was jailed ). From now on the car was an attraction in various traveling shows and museums. Now it’s waiting to find a new owner at the RM Auctions event in St. John’s, Michigan on July 28th.
