This is a misfortune rather than a blessing. What were the African presidents thinking about before making such a decision? This is just another proof that African leaders are failing the people they are leading.
This is a man who has been and will remain a dictator. After he forcefully took power several decades before most of us were born, he still does not accept the fact that democracy is the new wind blowing over the Continent and the world. He is still holding to power.
The very people he leads do not consider themselves as Africans. They see themselves as Arabs and will not have anything to do with the rest of us especially Black Africans. It is very disheartening to see how Black Africans are maltreated in Libya, and "Brother" Qathaffi sits there unconcerned.
Visit the Libyan prisons and see how fellow Africans are being treated by his people. Yet he goes around bestowing upon himself the title of King of Kings in Africa, talking about African unity so that he can lord it over the rest of us.
Those who think Qathaffi is the one one who will unite Africa have deceived themselves and will wake up from their obnoxious dreams to see that the masses of Black Africa are not with them. Afriicans do not need a Qathaffi, they need a Mandela. There is a world of difference between the the two.
