Alex Barton is a 5-year-old boy in the process of being diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, a high-functioning type of autism. His mother Melissa Barton admits he has special needs and that Alex be difficult to control at times.
But neither were prepared for what would happen in Alex Barton’s Florida classroom.
On Wednesday, May 21st, Alex Barton’s teacher Ms. Portillo made him stand in front of the class as one-by-one each student stated what they hate about Alex. Ultimately he was ‘voted’ out of the classroom by a 14-2 vote of children.
Alex Barton spent the rest of the day in the nurse’s room.
His teacher, Ms. Portillo, was been reassigned from her St. Lucie post, but Alex’s mother is furious. She spoke on the CBS morning show Tuesday May 27th and has urged that "if other parents who have this teacher or have had this teacher, come forward talk to your kids because this is wrong."
