Replying to a Calling Attention Notice of Ajay Kumar Sadhotra in the Legislative Council today, the Minister said that the insurance covers accidental deaths of pilgrims on the track from Banganga to Bhawan. He said in the event of an accidental death of a pilgrim on the track, the next of kin are entitled to an amount of Rs. one lakh.

As per the report of Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Katra, Abdul Hamid, S/o Mohammad Mushtaq is a registered ponywallh with the Municipal Committee, Katra, bearing Regn. No. 3984. The Municipal Committee, Katra has insured each pithu/ponywala for an amount of Rs. two lakh. The Municipal Committee Katra had arranged an ambulance, free of cost, to carry the body of the deceased ponywallah to his native place. The insurance claim of the deceased is being submitted by Municipal Committee, Katra the concerned insurance company.
