Two men have been arrested for the murder of a Canadian resident in the Hotel Riu Santa Fe in Cabo San Lucas on May 15.
Ricardo Cruz Pineda, 35, originally from Acapulco, and Frank Jule Sandoval, 48, from Los Angeles, were taken into custody Wednesday, June 18, according to the Baja, California newspaper, el Sudcaliforniano.
Naturalized Canadian resident Bou Bounthavorn Ingo, 29, originally from Laos, was shot by at least one intruder shortly after he opened his hotel room door, expecting hotel staff, according to the newpaper. His girlfriend, Mahsar Heikalel, 24, originally from Iran, and also a naturalized Canadian, was injured by a bullet in the foot.
The two men have been charged with premeditated murder, carried out with a 9mm handgun.
Officials did not offer additional information on the arrest. No motive has been given for the shooting.
