Amanda Knox Case – Italian Judiciary, part 2: The Satanic Fairy Tales Of Michele Giuttari; How The Devil Came To Florence & How To Send Him Back To Hell

Gabriele Ghiribelli, “witness Gamma” for Michele Giuttari

The original sin underlying the wrongful convictions of Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito is not the murder of Meredith Kercher, but rather the continuing fraudulent hoax that a ‘satanic sect’ is responsible for the Monster of Florence murders. This is the same hoax underlying Giuliano Mignini’s Narducci trail investigations, and the same hoax which the Italian judiciary and highest levels of Italian law enforcement have been fighting to dispel for nearly two decades. Amanda and Raffaele are only the two most recent, and probably the last of its many victims. The only question left, is whether these two innocents shall be consigned to the flames, before these flames of this witch hunt are extinguished forever. To understand this, we must understand, in short, ‘how the devil came to Florence’.

The author and continuing beneficiary of this ‘Monster hoax’ is the former chief inspector, and now internationally famous thriller writer Michele Giuttari. But the satanic seed of the idea for Giuttari’s ‘Monster hoax’ was provided almost twenty years ago by a homeless alcoholic prostitute named Gabriele Ghiribelli, or as Michele Giuttari preferred to call her, “witness Gamma”.

Ghiribelli weaves her magic spell on the witness stand, telling tales of Satan that Michele Giuttari found irresistible.

Ghiribelli was one of Giuttari’s four “algebraic witnesses’ first appearing briefly though not allowed to testify at the end of the appeal trial of Pietro Pacciani in February of 1996, and then again as formal witnesses in the trials of Giancarlo Lotti and Mario Vanni, whose trials began in May of 1997, charged and convicted as accomplices to Pacciani in the Monster of Florence murders.

The Monster of Florence murders, occurring from 1973 to 1985, were a series of gruesome murders of young couple seeking isolation and intimacy, where the victims were shot with a distinctive pistol, and then the females being sexually mutilated after death. These crimes shocked and horrified Italy and the world.

Compared to the crimes of London’s ‘Jack the ripper’, one theory had it that a doctor must be involved.

The early investigation focused on two tracks, one of which was called, ‘the sardinian trail’. This followed the trail of the pistol, and the members of the Vinci family of Sardinia.

Douglas Preston and Mario Spezi followed the sardinian trail line in their book, “The Monster of Florence”, and concluded that the ‘monster of florence’ serial killer was Antonio Vinci.

However, after a failed prosecution of a member of the Vinci family, the ‘sardinian trail’ was formerly closed, and new investigators took over, eventually settling on Pacciani as the prime suspect.

One author following the case, Magdalen Nabb, described the lack of confidence in the new investigators, in a lengthy interview here, and as follows:

“The huge investigation of these murders in the eighties when they were still happening had been ditched and a new one set up with a special squad of investigators, none of whom had been involved, none of whom knew the case from the beginning. The fact that none of them had ever in their lives investigated a murder of any kind caused people to suspect—not unreasonably—that this was a very odd sort of investigation and that the suspect was being framed. This annoyed a lot of people who had worked long and hard on the case and those people, looking for someone to tell, came to me with their anger and their evidence.”

Nabb provided much of her research materials to Mario Spezi, for use in his coverage of the ‘Monster’ story, which he had been covering continuously since the first recognized Monster killings in 1973.

Despite weak evidence, Pacciani was convicted in a national show trial in 1994. One of the witnesses, Mario Vanni, protested repeated on the witness stand that he had only known Pacciani as a “picnicking friend”. This phrase became a national punchline.

But Vanni’s panic on the witness stand proved prescient. As Pacciani’s appeal was falling apart in February of 1996, Giuttari would have him arrested as “Pacciani’s accomplice”, and would ultimately convict him, along with Giancarlo Lotti, as Pacciani’s accomplices in the Monster of Florence murders.

PACCIANI’S APPEAL & THE PICNICKING FRIENDS

At Pacciani’s appeal, a new prosecutor took over the case, and was shocked with what he found. According to Douglas Preston and Mario Spezi, the new prosecutor reviewed the case file and was appalled by what he found, telling the court; “This investigation, if it weren’t so tragic, would put one in mind of the Pink Panther”.

The new prosecutor, Piero Tony, was so impressed with the weakness of the case that he switched sides and argued in favor of acquittal at Pacciani’s appeal. The trial went on for months, and it was clearly heading for an acquittal.

Michele Giutarri had taken over as head of the Monster investigations in October of 1995. Now in February of 1996, just a few months later, this internationally famous criminal case was falling apart. In short, it was becoming obvious that Giutarri had got left holding the bag.

Preston and Spezi describe Giutarri “swinging into action”. Giutarri picked up Mario Vanni, and produced his ‘algebraic witnesses’.

Without Giutarri’s ‘Algebraic witnesses’, the case against Pacciani would have failed. It was only by introducing this dubious collection of “halfwits and lowlifes” (Preston/MOF), that Italian law enforcement could claim to have solved the case.

In this way, it was under the leadership of Michele Giuttari, that the investigation of the Monster of Florence went from being a case of a lone serial killer, Pacciani, to being a band of killers roaming the hills of Florence, the so-called “picnicking friends”.

THE ALGEBRAICS

Giuttari’s introduction of the ‘algebraics’ at the end of Pacciani’s appeal trial, which was clearly heading for an acquittal by that point, set the stage for Italy’s Supreme court of cassation to over turn Pacciani’s acquittal, and order a new trial.

After Giuttari introduced them at Pacciani’s appeal, the algebraics’ identities, Alpha, Beta, Gamma, and Delta, were soon discovered by the press.

From Preston/MOF, “They turned out to be quite a collection of half-wits and lowlifes. Alpha was a mentally retarded man named Pucci. Gamma was a prostitute named Ghiribelli, in the final stages of alcoholism, known to turn a trick for a twenty-five-cent glass of wine. Delta was a pimp named Galli. Of them all, Beta would be the most important, as he had confessed to helping Pacciani murder the French tourists”.

Preston describes Lotti (Beta) as a kind of old world “village idiot”, subsisting on the charity of his neighbors. Lotti became a ‘super-witness’ against himself, and a hapless mail man named Mario Vanni, who came from the same Italian town, San Casciano.

Here is the story witness Gamma, Ghiribelli, told Giutarri that he found so convincing, again, we turn to Preston/MOF, p.155-156:

“Ghiribelli, the alcoholic prostitute, told investigators another story that would eventually loom large in the investigation. She claimed that Pacciani and his picknicking friends frequented the house of a druid or wizard (whose day job was a pimp) where they held black masses and worshipped the devil. ‘In the room just as you entered’, said Ghiribelli, ‘there were old wax candles, a five-pointed star drawn on the floor with carbon, an unspeakable dirtiness and messiness everywhere, condoms, liquor bottles. On the sheets of the big bed there were traces of blood. There were spots as large as a piece of letter paper. These traces I saw every Sunday morning in 1984 and 1985’.”

Continuing, Preston writes; “The wizard pimp she named had died ten years before, and it proved impossible to check Ghiribelli’s assertions. Nevertheless, Giuttari took it all down and pushed the case forward, convinced he was finally on the right track.”

HOW SATAN CAME TO FLORENCE

Building upon Ghiribelli’s satanic tales, Guittari constructed his elaborate satanic monster hoax, which he has been peddling for nearly 20 years.

Pacciani’s acquittal was overturned, and a fresh appeal was ordered. Pacciani died two days before his retrial was due to begin. Vani and Lotti were already being tried, and would be convicted as Pacciani’s accomplices.

But as Preston reports (MOF, p.158);

“The trial [of Vanni and Lotti] never addressed the central motive: why had Pacciani and his picnicking friends stolen those sex organs? Chief Inspector Giuttari, however, had already embarked on an investigation of this very question. And he had an answer: behind the Monster of Florence killings lay a satanic cult. This shadowy cabal of wealthy and powerful people, seemingly beyond reproach, who occupied the highest positions in society, business, law and medicine, had hired Pacciani, Vanni, and Lotti to kill couples in order to obtain the sex organs of girls for use as the obscene, blasphemous ‘wafer’ in their Black Masses”.

Preston goes on to explain how Giuttari’s hoax progressed. From MOF (p.159): “To investigate this new theory, Chief Inspector Giuttari formed an elite police unit, which he called the Gruppo Investigativo Delitti Seriali, the Serial Killings Investigative Group, or GIDES….He assembled a crack team of detectives. Their sole mission: to identify and arrest the mandanti, the ‘masterminds’ or instigators behind the killings of the so-called Monster of Florence”.

As per Preston (MOF, p159), Guittari assembled his satanic theory through his own voluminous research into the case file, selecting insignificant details and magnifying their significance in his own mind . Guittari turned to “medieval lore and legend”, among other elements, and had even found a possible name for his imaginary satanic sect; “The School of the Red Rose”. I refer the reader to Preston/Spezi in their book, MOF, for more detail.

Here is Preston again (MOF, P.100); There were several other elements that guided Giuttari in the formation of his theory. The most important of them was Gabriella Carlizzi, an energetic little Roman lady with a big smile who ran a conspiracy theory web site and had self-published a string of books. Carlizzi claimed to know a great deal of hidden information about many infamous European crimes of the past decades – including the kidnapping and murder of the former prime minister Aldo Moro and the Belgian pedophile ring. Behind them all, she said, was the school of the Red Rose….The Red Rose was also behind the Monster killings. Carlizzi had earlier been convicted of defamation for claiming the well-known Italian writer Alberto Bevilacqua was the Monster of Florence”.

“psychic medium” Gabriella Carlizzi

Preston, continuing, MOF p.160; “Carlizzi became an expert witness for the investigation. Giuttari and his GIDES detectives called her in and listened to her for hours – perhaps even days – as she recounted her knowledge of the satanic sect hidden in the green hills of Tuscany. The police had to give her a protective escort, she would later claim, because of the grave danger she faced from members of the sect intent on silencing her.”

Carlizzi Among The Pyramids

THE APPARATUS OF A WITCH HUNT

Let us pause for a moment to digest the aforementioned, because it is important to understanding what happened to Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito, and so many other victims of Giuttari’s Monster hoax.

Pacciani was not the Monster of Florence. Vanni and Lotti were not his assistants. It is highly likely the true monster of Florence is Antonio Vinci. However, the sardinian trail investigation that leads to him, was formerly shut down. There exists even today, evidence of a bloody rag that may yet be susceptible to modern DNA analysis that could be tested, if the truth were truly being sought.

Yet without the false convictions of Vanni and Lotti, the Monster of Florence killings remain unsolved. So the convictions of Vanni and Lotti carry tremendous face saving value for Italian law enforcement and the judiciary.

These convictions were only possible because of Giuttari’s algebraic witnesses.

But there was no logical or rational motive that could be ascribed to this proven false and discredited theory. So Giuttari invented a satanic fairy tale, spun from the fables of the alcoholic prostitute Ghiribelli, and the esoteric tutelage of the ‘psychic medium’ Carlizzi.

And from this farcical pedestal, Giuttari built the GIDES squad, a government bureaucratic unit dedicated to pursuing a non-existant satanic sect. The sole function of which, was to conscript hapless civilians into walk-on roles in Giuttari’s satanic farce. And scores of innocent Italians would get caught up in Giuttari’s charades.

Giuttari’s GIDES squad, is the state apparatus of a witch hunt. A formalized, state sponsored witch hunt. And it lasted until GIDES was formally disbanded in 2006, after Guittari and Mignini went too far.

THE NARDUCCI TRAIL

Giuttari soon teamed up with Giuliano Mignini to continue his fraudulent hoax in their Narducci Trail investigations in 2002. Claiming a young doctor Francesco Narducci, who drowned seventeen years earlier in 1985 in Lake Trasimeno, had hired Pacciani and his accomplices to steal women’s sex organs for their ‘black masses’. And that feeling guilty for his role, Narducci wanted to confess, but was killed by the shadowy satanic sect to silence him.

Here is how Mignini came to embark on the Narducci trail. From Preston, MOF P. 207;

“[Public Minister Giuliano Mignini] concluded, apparently based on information given him by Carlizzi, that Francesco Narducci had been murdered by the loan sharks, some of whom might be in contact with the Red Rose or another diabolical sect. Therefore, the loan sharks and the Narducci killing might be connected in some way with the Monster of Florence murders.”

Preston continues, MOF p.208; “Judge Mignini, the public minister, informed Chief Inspector Giuttari of the connection to the Monster case, and Giuttari and his GIDES squad embarked on a determined effort to prove that Narducci hadn’t committed suicide. He had been murdered, to silence him and the terrible secrets he knew. Mignini had ordered the reopening of the Narducci case as a murder investigation.”

Preston again, MOF, P.210; “Carlizzi had told the public minister [Mignini] that the body of Narducci had been substituted for another, which had been tossed in the lake as a decoy. To investigate that statement, Giuttari commissioned an expert analysis of the photograph [of Narducci’s corpse on the dock]. Taking as a standard unit of measurement the width of a plank on the dock, the experts concluded that the cadaver in the photograph belonged to a man four inches shorter than Narducci. They also concluded that the dead man’s waist was far too large to be that of the trim Narducci.”

On the other hand, Preston reports, MOF, P. 210; “Other experts disagreed. SOme pointed out that a body floating in water for five days does tend to swell. Planks of a dock are not all equal in width, and the dock in question had been replaced. Who knew the width of the planks seventeen years earlier? All those in the crowd who were actually standing around the body, including the medical examiner himself, swore the body was Narducci’s. ”

Mignini and Giuttari insisted the body of Dr Narducci had been swapped, and had the body exhumed, over the wishes of the Narducci family.

The Narducci family’s reluctance to have their family member exhumed, was interpreted by Mignini as complicity in the imaginary satanic sect, and Mignini would charge them criminally, among twenty innocent defendants as belonging to Giuttari’s imaginary satanic sect. Mignini even charged the Narducci’s maid.

When the body was exhumed, DNA testing confirmed it was Dr Narducci. Mignini and Giuttari then theorized there had been a ‘double swap’, that their imaginary satanic sect had gotten winds of their plans, and re-swapped the body just to discredit the investigation.

On an earlier occasion, Giuttari’s GIDES squad had raided a basement filled with Halloween decorations.

MARIO SPEZI & THE COLLAPSE OF GIDES

In 2004, Mario Spezi appeared on national TV and ridiculed Giuttari and MIgnini’s Narducci trail investigations.
Spezi had a insect expert describing how the date of one of the Monster’s killings could be attributed to a day earlier then Giuttari’s algebraics had testified. In adsition, Spezi waved around a common doorstop that Giuttari had found in a case file and had claimed to be an esoteric object.
In addition, Spezi ran into Mario Vanni in a nursing home, and write an article, where Vanni proclaimed his innocence in the Monster of Florence killings, for which he had been convicted as Pacciano’s accomplice.
Mario Spezi soon became a target of Giuttari and Mignini, and he was eventually arrested and briefly imprisoned in April of 2006.  Douglas Preston was in the US at the time, having been chased out of Italy by Mignini.
Giuttari’s squad had raided Spezi’s home and confiscated his ‘Monster archives’.
The book Spezi was writing with Preston, The Monster of Florence, was a competitor to the story told in Giuttari’s Monster hoax. The arrest of Spezi and confiscation of his archives could easily be viewed as Giuttari seeking to preserve the maximum opportunity for commercial gain from his fraudulent ‘Monster’ hoax.
Preston worked to bring international attention to Spezi’s plight, and his efforts snow-balled. Soon the Italian press joined in the criticism, and rushed to help Spezi, and just three weeks later,m Spezi was released from prison, without conditions.
Soon after, Giuttari’s GIDES squad was disbanded, and Giuttari’s men were taken away from him. An investigation was opened into Giuttari and MIgnini, and they were indicted and convicted for abuse of office. Those convictions were later set aside due to a technical violation concerning venue. But both men in time, were relieved of their responsibilities.
THE KERCHER CASE
On November 1, 2007, Rudy Guede killed Meredtih Kercher, as she came home and surprised him in the middle of a burglary.
Guede had a history of burglaries in Perugia and was known to the police, but never prosecuted. Five days earlier, Guede had been arrested in Milan, and after a phone call to the Perugian authorities, was back on a train to Perugia, to kill Ms Kercher five days later.
Had Giuliano Mignini simply done his job, and prosecuted Rudy Guede for his previous crimes, Meredith Kercher would still be alive.
But shortly before Kercher’s death, Mignini and Giuttari were indicted on their abuse of office charges.
Now, let’s go back to Giuttari’s ‘monster’ hoax. Read carefully how Giuttari describes the use of the female sex organs taken by the Monster of Florence after his killings.

Courtesy of Preston/Spezi, MOF, p.160: “In a later book on the case, Chief Inspector Giuttari explained his satanic sect thesis more particularly. ‘The best sacrifices for evoking demons are human sacrifices, and the death most favorable [emphasis his] for such sacrifices are those that occur during orgasm and are called mors lusti. A similar motive led to the killings of the ‘monster’, who struck his victims while they were making love… In that precise moment [of orgasm] powerful energies are released, indispensable for the person acting out satanic rituals, which bring power to himself and to the ritual he is celebrating”.

Now listen to the language Mignini used before Judge Matteini after he had arrested Knox, Sollecito, and Lumumba:

MOF, p.321; “In the preliminary hearing on November 11, MIgnini had his first opportunity to explain the motive behind the brutal murder. He said it was ‘a celebratory rite on Halloween night, a sexual and sacrificial rite that should have occurred twenty-four hours earlier, but was postponed by the unexpected presence of the other Italian roommates in the little house on Via della Pergola.”

Giuliano Mignini did not look at the Kercher case, and think there had been another satanic sect crime. Mignini was perpetrating the same fraudulent hoax that he and Giuttari had been peddling in the Narducci trail cases. This is Giuttari’s hoax, spun from the fables of the prostitute Ghiribelli, polished with the esoteric eccentricities of the psychic medium Carlizzi.

It is the very same fraud.

There never was any evidence against Amanda and Raffaele. Just Mignini’s need to ensnare new victims in his delirious witch hunt.

What kind of person feels entitled to steal the lives and liberty of people he knows to be innocent? I don’t have an answer. It is enough we recognize his true nature.

Lastly, there is Eduard Giobbi, who arrived at the crime scene on the first day, November 2, 2007.

For Giobbi to arrive on the first day, he had to be called almost immediately. Within months, Giobbi would put Amanda’s picture on his trophy wall before they had even been charged. Giobbi famously declared he could identify guilt not from evidence, but from psychological observation.

Giobbi was the head of the “serious crimes unit” in Rome. If there wasn’t a “serious criminal” to be found, there was no reason for him to be there. A simple murder isn’t “serious”, it has to be a dangerous criminal, among the worst.

When all the other people who lived at the cottage had alibi’s and came to the police station with adults, the only two left vulnerable, were Amanda and Raffaele. As an internet wag put it, ‘the only thing suspicious about Amanda’s behavior, was that she didn’t have an attorney’.

Eduard Giobbi, who deduced Amanda Knox was guilty because she ate a pizza, will go down in history as Italy’s ‘Inspector Clousseau’.

WHEN DOES A WITCH HUNT END?

A witch hunt ends, when it has to. It ends, when no one feels safe.

If Amanda and Raffaele can stand on the precipice of wrongful conviction, with no evidence against them, and absolute scientific proof that only Rudy Guede hurt Meredith Kercher, then who is safe?

When the children of a wealthy family like the Sollecitos, can be kidnapped off the street and held for blood ransom by unscrupulous civil parties, spend millions of euros on legal fees and its still not enough to break free from their criminal grasp, then who is safe?

When the child of a middle class family from Seattle sends their daughter on a student exchange program to Italy and acting in good faith and the highest concern for good citizenship, is instead trapped by a corrupt prosecutor and police, psychologically destroyed, her reputation assassinated in the media, and forced to spend four years in brutal imprisonment, then who is safe?

If Mario Vanni, a simple postman, and Mario Spezi, a dedicated journalist, can be plucked off the street and sacrificed to Giuttari’s fraudulent ‘monster hoax’ then who is safe?

If the professional class of doctors, lawyers, judges, journalists and the most responsible people in Florentine society can be charged in Mignini’s Narducci trail hoax, on the words of ‘half-wits and lowlifes’, the lowest dregs of society, then who is safe?

The answer is no one. No one is safe in Italy so long as Giuliano Mignini and Michele Giuttari are allowed to continue to perpetuate their fraudulent monster hoax.

It’s time to call it what it is: Mignini’s and Giuttari’s satanic sect ‘Monster’ theory is nothing but a wholly fraudulent hoax, built atop a foundation of farce.

Its time for this witch hunt to finally end.

Italy has long past that point. The disbanding of the GIDES police force, and the indictments and convictions of MIgnini and Giuttari is a clear indication that the Italian judiciary and legal authorities in Italy had had enough of Giuttari’s fraudulent hoax.

Amanda and Raffaele are literally, very likely the last two victims of this particular witch hunt. The only question left, is whether these last two victims will be consigned to the flames, before these flames are extinguished forever, consigned to history, as an embarrassing reminder of human frailty, credulity, superstitious fears, and above all, unprincipled greed. The worst qualities of humanity on display, to remind us how small and undeveloped we are as a species.

Mignini’s witch hunt is over, the Narducci trail investigations are over. In his new role, Mignini can no longer lead an investigation, or try a case. The only question left to cassation, and the Italian justice system which has tried so hard to keep a lid on Giuttari and Mignini’s fraudulent Monster hoax, is will the last two innocent victims be spared decades in prison for crimes of which they have been proven innocent.

WHY DOES A WITCH HUNT END?

A witch hunt ends, when the witch hunter in chief is publicly confronted, and faced down, often with the most dangerous political weapon in the history of human kind: ridicule.

Anyone who doubts the power of language, and more particularly, the power of laughter, need look no further than the most oppressive of regimes, cults, and orders.

At the heart of every witch hunt, is a devil, in one form or another. But it is the supposed danger, the fear of the boogeyman, that is supposed to command our respect and obediance. Even to the point of sacrificing our loved ones to the flames of this ignorance and fraud.

Giuttari and Mignini speak of a dark satanic sect infiltrating the highest orders of Italian society, law enforcement and government. Anyone who opposes them and presents “resistance”, is perceived as being complicit with the enemy.

When the Narducci family objected to Mignini exhuming their family member, Mignini interpreted this as complicity in the satanic cult. MIignini charged journalists, doctors, even the Narducci maid.

But there is a moment when the spell is broken. When people gain their courage, lose their fear, breathe deep and laugh. The sound of that laughter is the death nell of the witch hunt.

When Giuttari’s GIDES squad was disbanded, the witch hunt was over. The sole mission of GIDES was to find the masterminds. That Giuttari’s squad was disbanded, and both he and Mignini were indicted and convicted for abuse of office, their witch hunt had run its course.

Despite the fact that both men were convicted and sentenced to prison terms at their first level trial, the wheels of justice turn slowly in Italy. Rather than wait for a judicial outcome, Giuttari was relieved of his squad and investigative responsibilities through promotion, rather than incarceration.

The same went for Mignini, it just took a little longer.

HOW A WITCH HUNT ENDS: A CASE STUDY.

In the United States, we had a witch hunt in the 1950s. The are lingering effects that remain with us even today. But the denouement came in a public, televised hearing, when Senator Joe McCarthy spoke to the witness Joseph Welsh.

Mr Welsh had suggested to Senator McCarthy that if there were any communists in the state department, he should get them out of town after sundown.

Senator McCarthy took exception to Mr Welsh’s statement, and criticized Mr Welsh for making a “burlesque” of the hearings.

In a display of ‘one upmanship’, Senator McCarthy then named a young executive on Mr Welsh’s own staff who had once belonged to the Lawyer’s Guild, which had been the legal representative for the Communist party.

To be named as a communist at that moment in US history was a “social death sentence”. One could be blacklisted, prevented from working, arrested, and hauled before McCarthy’s committee and forced to “name names”.

Here is a compressed version of Mr Welsh’s and Senator McCarthy’s exchange. This paraphrasing isn’t exact. Because langiuage in real life is rarely so pure. But the gist of it is organically true. (The actual video link is here, and I recommend it to any student of the Kercher case).

MR WELSH: Mr Chairman, Under these circumstances, I must myself have something approaching a personal privilege. Senator, may I have your attention?

MCCARTHY: “I’m listening, I can listen with one ear and talk with the other”.

MR WELSH: Senator, this time I want you to listen with both… Until this moment Senator, I think I never really gauged your cruelty, or your recklessness. Fred Fisher is a young man who went to the Harvard Law school and came into my firm and is starting what looks to be a brilliant career with us. When I decided to work for this committee, I asked Jim St Clair, who sits to my right, to be my first assistant. I said to Jim, ‘pick somebody in the firm to work under you that you would like”. He chose Fred Fisher, and they came down on an afternoon plane. That night, when we had taken a little stab at trying to see what the case was about, Fred Fisher and Jim St Clair and I went to dinner together. I then said to these two young men, ‘Boys, I don’t know anything about you, except I’ve always liked you, but if there’s anything funny in the life of either of you that would hurt anybody in this case, you speak up quick.”

MR WELSH (CONTINUED): “And Fred Fisher said, Mr Welsh, when I was in law school, and for a period of months after, I belonged to the Lawyer’s Guild as you have suggested. he went on to say, ‘I am Secretary of the Young Republican’s League in Newton with the son of [the] Massachusetts governor, and I have the respect and admiration of my community, and I’m sure I have the respect and admiration of the twenty-five lawyers or so in Hale & Dorr.’ And I said, “Fred, I just don’t think I’m going to ask you to work on the case. If I do, one of these days that will come out, and go over national television, and it will just hurt like the dickens.” And so, Senator, I asked him to go back to Boston. Little did I dream you could be so reckless and so cruel as to do an injury to that lad. It is, I regret to say, equally true that I fear he shall always bear a scar needlessly inflicted by you. If it were in my power to forgive you for your reckless cruelty, I would do so. I like to think I’m a gentle man, but your forgiveness will have to come from someone other than me.”

SENATOR MCCARTHY: “Mr Chairman, may I say that Mr Welch talks about this being cruel and reckless. He was just baiting. He has been baiting Mr Cohen here for hours, requesting that Mr before sundown get out of any department of the government anyone who is serving the Communist cause. Now, I just give this man’s record and I want to say, Mr. Welch, that it had been labeled long before he became a member, as early as 1944 —

MR WELSH: Senator, may we not drop this? We know he belonged to the Lawyers’ Guild.

SENATOR MCCARTHY: Let me finish….

MR WELSH: “And Mr Cohen nods his head at me. I did you, I think, no personal injury, Mr Cohen?

MR COHEN: “No Sir”

MR WELSH: “I meant to do you no personal injury. And if I did, I beg your pardon. Let us not assassinate this lad further, Senator.”

SENATOR MCCARTHY: “Let’s, let’s…”

MR WELSH: “You’ve done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?”

McCarthy wanted to continue the line of questioning, but Welsh refused, telling McCarthy simply, “Call your next witness”.

At that moment, something interesting happened, and its worth watching the video of the incident which was televised nationally. The committee appeared to instantly recess, as though the gallery understood it was over, and broke into strenuous spontaneous applause. The moment when the spell was broken had arrived, and everyone knew it.

That’s what needs to happen in the Meredtih Kercher case.

This case never had anything to do with Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito. It was always, and only about Giuliano Mignini, and his failure to do his job and control Rudy Guede.

The witch hunter in chief, Giuliano Mignini, needs to be confronted, in a formal public hearing, and exposed for the sadistic buffoon that he is.

Apart from the cassation hearing in just two days, which I have stated my belief will result in a annulment of the verdicts, without the requirement of further retrials. I believe the case will end in two days, and Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito will finally be exonerated from this fraudulent witch hunt. But there is another trial, regarding Sollecito’s book, “Honor Bound”.

Raffaele’s lawyer is a gentleman named Brizzioli, who is not only a lawyer, but was a defendant in Mignini’s Narducci trail cases, along with roughly twenty other innocent people from Florence.

Mignini’s theory of a satanic sect was again refuted in the courts, and the last of the charges, including against Mario Spezi, were going to be dismissed due to statute of limitations just last year. Only Brizzioli insisted on a final verdict to clear his name.

I suspect Brizzioli has unfinished business with Giuliano Mignini.

I suspect Alfred Brizzioli is ready to send the devil back to hell.

It’s time for Italy to put this witch hunt to rest. It’s time for cassation to again recognize the innocence of Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito. It’s time for Florence to disinvite the devil. It’s time for Italy to send the devil back to hell.
