Amarnath Shrine Board urges Yatris to get registered before embarking on pilgrimage

 

         

            Srinagar, July 15 (Scoop News) – The Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB),  R. K. Goyal, has appealed to all the Yatris who intend to undertake the pilgrimage to the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji, to complete the necessary registration formalities and obtain a Yatra Permit before embarking on the pilgrimage to avoid inconvenience on arrival at the Base Camps and enroute to the Holy Shrine.

The CEO added that for the convenience of the Yatris the registration facility is available at the 121 registration counters established at the designated Branches of the J&K Bank, located across the country. The details of the registration counters are available at the Shrine Board’s website (www.shriamarnathjishrine.com). He clarified that because of the longer distance and travel time along the Sheshnag route the registration of pilgrims who travel on this route will be allowed upto 22nd August, 2010 while the registration in respect of the Baltal route, which is much shorter, will close on the 23rd August, 2010. 

 As it is the Shrine Board’s endeavour to provide a hassle-free Yatra for all pilgrims it is the responsibility of every Yatri to obtain a Yatra Permit, to ensure against avoidable inconvenience or delay on arrival in the Valley.

             Goyal reiterated that as a consequence of the several new initiatives taken by the Board to bring progressive improvement in the Yatra management, all the registered pilgrims have been provided free accident insurance cover of rupees one lakh. The insurance policy has the provision of free of charge Accident Insurance Cover for every Yatri who possesses a Yatra Permit. This facility is not available to the un-registered Yatris.

The CEO said that the Board has also issued a detailed advisory of Do’s and Don’ts for the Yatris visiting the Holy Cave Shrine of Shri Amarnathji, which are printed on the reverse of the Yatra Permit and also available on the Board’s website. He said that the Yatris need to strictly adhere to these Do’s and Don’ts, as they have to undertake an arduous trek through high mountains under adverse weather conditions.
