American president George Bush and wife Laura paid $221,635 in taxes

For the year 2007 President Bush and his wife Laura Bush paid $221,635 in federal taxes, an adjusted gross income of $923,807. The figures are up from 2006, largely owing to a $150,000 book advance that Mrs. Bush received.

Also reported that Vice President Ðìçk Cheney and his wife, Lynne, owed $602,651 in 2007 federal taxes after making $3.04 million. The Cheneys’ income includes the vice president’s $212,000 salary, Lynne Cheney’s book royalties, her salary from the American Enterprise Institute and their respective pensions from Union Pacific and Reader’s Digest.
