The school which is located north of the Gaza strip was attacked for the second time in just two days. There was an attack on Thursday by a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) that was fired upon the building.
The attack has been condemned by Hamas, the militant group that controls the Gaza Strip. According to correspondents, the attack on the school could be connected to the visit to the Middle East by United States President George W. Bush.
According to the school director, the attack took place at night. Nobody was injured in the attack.
There was a leaflet left after the attack where the people that attacked claim to be connected with Al-Qaeda. They vowed to attack similar targets.
“This is terrorism against education,” according to the school director.
“Polytheists and enemies of Islam are pursuing each day their work to destroy our youths, who are falling by the dozens into the swamps of vice and moral decadence,” said the statement.
Hamas had condemned the attack and vowed to find the ones responsible.
“Regardless of the reasons – whether to protest, or because of the visit of the American president, this is not a way to express oneself. This is a criminal act,” according to Ihab Ghussein; spokesman for Hamas.
Currently, the school is run by Palestinians. No American teachers are present. This is due to the prompting of international staff to leave when two foreign teachers were kidnapped in 2005.
