While New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg has not given an endorsement to either of the presidential candidates, he did have something to say. Bloomberg said in regards to the presidency, that an “adult” will end up winning the White House. That is the only implication that Bloomberg thinks will win the White House come this November. He did not name a candidate. All he simply put was that there will be an adult in office that can at least manage to pull of something within the first term.
During a Q & A session, Bloomberg weighed on in who he would support. He said: “I’m looking for a candidate that is willing to face reality and say, ‘We can’t have everything and there are costs and we’ve got to make choices.’” So far, Bloomberg has not endorsed Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, Senator Hillary Clinton of New York, or Senator John McCain of Arizona.
Obama and Clinton are still fighting it out for the Democratic nomination. McCain is already the presumed GOP nominee. Democratic co-frontrunners Clinton and Obama are still fighting it out due to the Democratic delegate rules. If those same rules were used by the Republican National Committee, it would be a different story with McCain.
Bloomberg also added: “Some of the things they will be in favor of I will agree with, some of the things they will be in favor of I won’t. But at least we’ll have an adult in office who can lead and can accomplish something.”
However, he did not give any criticism or praise to current US President George W. Bush. Bloomberg said that talking about Bush is irrelevant as he cannot run for another term. In short, Bloomberg said that voters must not focus on the past but on who would they want to lead for the next four years.
