AN ENTRAPPED DELHI DANCES TO THE DEVIL’S (RAJAPAKSE’S) TUNES
To elevate Rajapakse to an honoured guest status at the Delhi’s Games shows Delhi’s keenness to publicly share in the Buddhist Sinhala SL victory over the Tamils though a public humiliation for Tamils, TN and worldwide. Underlying is a message to the international community that its war and crimes against humanity initiatives against SL have failed. Delhi calculated message to the TN electorate is that, only under a Congress rule in TN will there be real redress for the SL Tamils. It signals Delhi disowning the DMK now that it has lost its idealist luster following its drift away from its Dravidian philosophical moorings.
The nature of the Games invitation itself is mired in controversy. Delhi’s claimed that it was a joint India plus event organizer’s invitation (the protocol head- the Games, Aslam Khan brought in the phantom of an ‘organizing committee’ here). This is rebutted by most media stories including the BBC who have the Commonwealth Secretariate’s confirmation that it had nothing to do with the invitation to Rajapakse? Wherein lies the ‘truth’?
The comic relief of the Commonwealth Secretary General Sharma is his ‘it was not the organisation’s role to “speak out” against (human rights abuses) by the 54 member states’ (subsequently denied). Was Sharma speaking as a Delhi apologist or as the Commonwealth Secretary General? Delhi’s policy line had devalued human rights values that much to accommodate SL’s Mullivaykal massacres despite worldwide concerns for SL’s grave abuses of ‘human rights’ by a Rajapakse whether in an Idi Amin or a Mugabe style. Historically the Commonwealth (despite Delhi) enjoyed an unblemished reputation for its fight against human rights abuses. The most remembered is the fight to end Apartheid human rights abuses. SL’s massacres outclass the Apartheid abuses by miles to border on ‘war crimes’ and ‘crimes against humanity’.
Delhi an aspirant for a permanent seat in the Security Council whose stance on SL’s human rights earned it ‘India’s silence on Lanka deafening’ from The Elders’ (Hindustan Times of August 2, 2010). Delhi SL’s position is not driven by pure altruism; saving a murderous SL leadership from crimes before international (UN) tribunals. Delhi is driven by its keenness to ensure that a cornered SL does not implicate Delhi in the SL genocide including the May 2009 Mullivaykal massacres of over 40 000 Tamils.
With more details of the Mullivaykal massacre unraveling, Delhi opted for a frontal attack on the West. Within days of the massacre, the Delhi South Block apologist, the ‘Tom Tom’ Raman blamed the West of using the ‘Eelam issue to embarrass the SL government and put its senior officers in the dock by disseminating unauthenticated high civilian casualties figures’. Overwhelming evidence like satellite pictures, videos, and oral evidence of the escapees from the war zone drove Raman underground.
Compelling eye witness accounts of survivors who fled with the LTTE not as human shields but to save their own lives are providing leads on mass home graves in Mullativu. Those IDPs who ignored Delhi’s advice and fled escaped sure death from the powerful Indian artillery shells that rained into each home (28 already reported). Delhi’s support earned for SL invaluable time to cover up evidence of many mass home graves; these are bound to surface in oral evidence in crimes against humanity proceedings.
Though most Indian apologists softened attacks on the West, Delhi’s ominous deafening silence on the SL massacres, ethnic cleansing and genocide on the Tamils and above all Delhi’s relentless behind the scenes diplomatic offensives to stall the UN war crimes initiatives are contrary to UN’s basic human values. SL Gothbhaya’s ‘stab in the back’ for Delhi very early or in the immediate aftermath of the massacres was a natural reaction; fears over the raging war crimes clamour in US and Western capitals drove SL to spill out hints of the regular ‘in the loop’ sessions between the Delhi-Colombo trios during those the critical months that led to the massacres. This incriminating hint, Delhi could only ignore at its peril. The ‘trio’ names most mentioned were the South Block mandarins, Narayanan and Shiv Shankar Menon, who closeness to mafia cult Delhi leadership is legendary.
Delhi thus had very compelling reasons to placate SL at whatever costs. This prompted Delhi to muster sufficient strength in UNHRC in May 2009 for an unprincipled vote against the West’s SL war crimes initiatives. The deeply stirred conscience of the world was thus muzzled by an unholy axis of (ranked) human rights abusers, Egypt (7) China (9) of Tiananmen and Tibet fame) Saudi Arabia (20) and Pakistan (22) both sponsors of Jihardi terrorism) and Dharmic India (28) directed by the Mafia cult (!) Delhi leadership. This killed off the noble pursuits of the UN institutions serving the good of humanity with the UN acting to deter genocides – SL genocide included.
Though the trend setting success in the Yugoslav genocide case was not dented by the Delhi supported setback in the SL’s case; most of those nations that voted for the SL May 2009 resolution abandoned the SL cause leaving Delhi as the nation most in the know of and/or involved in some form or other in the brutal Mullivaykal massacres,
isolated.
The hints of the estranged Sarath Fonseka unraveled further the involvement of the Delhi ‘trio ‘in the massacres. Delhi feared Sarath’s evidence before war crimes tribunals; hence Delhi’s stilled silence again despite the plight of Sarath. Sarath’s unraveling that the original plan to end the war in August 2009 was to avoid the risks of endangering civilians lives in the narrow war zone. SL is now holding Delhi to ransom for its reckless pressure through Narayanan/Menon ‘in the loop’ sessions to speed up the end of the war to May 2009 and causing the massive loss of civilian lives in the Mullivaykal massacre. Delhi was fully aware that massive civilian casualties were inevitable where civilians and the LTTE were crowded into the narrow ‘fire free zone’. The ingenious Narayanan’s ‘fire free’ zone effectively was a death trap to kill off ‘the bastards’ (LTTE) with or without civilians.
A recent Guardian issue mentioned ‘India’s invitation is part of a charm offensive aimed at countering diplomatic inroads made by China in recent years.’ Delhi’s geo-politics to sabotage the US humanitarian venture to evacuate the resistance or LTTE leadership to safety was Delhi’s phobic distrust that the US was seeking to establish a foothold in SL. Delhi’s geo-politics reputedly change fast with every change in wind direction. However to both Delhi and Colombo the US proposal stood in the way of finishing off the bastards, LTTE for supposedly killing off Rajiv. But Delhi has no tears when SL killed off Rajiv’s sacred legacy, the Indo-SL Accord and the 13th Amendment. Revenge is adharmic to most Indians but not to the Mafia cult in effective leadership in Delhi. Indian leaders ritually pay puja to this cult.
The ‘in the loop’ sessions’ decision to destroy the Tamil resistance at whatever cost was dictated equally by local Indian politics not the geo-politics alone. An over ambitious Rahul bullish about the prospects of Congress easily gaining power in TN by going alone expects to replace its Coalition partner – the DMK whose Dravidian credentials Delhi studiously strove to undermine. That DMK with the luster of the Dravidian spirit lost by its passivity over issues close to the Tamilians (the SL Tamil’s plight and SL navy harassment of TN fishermen) that Delhi deliberately sidelined despite TN’s repeated reminders is a blunt message to the TN electorate that only returning Congress in TN will produce the desired outcomes for them on these issues. This undercut the DMK even as a state level player. DMK is treated with such disdain that elder DMK leader was humiliated by Rahul and Sonia during their visits to TN. Sonia spared the DMK elder only 15 minutes at the airport lounge.
Ironically both SL and Delhi launched their offensives on the Tamil diaspora recently with NSA Menon in New York delivering a ‘..rebuff (for the) pro-LTTE lobby in US’ while Rohan Gunaratne urged SL genocide war to go overseas to eliminate/silence the Tamils diaspora. Menon’s ‘in the loop’ role beguiling the militants to their death in Narayanan’s ‘fire free zone’ was more lethal than Delhi’s fire-power, intelligence and personnel used in the Mullivaykal massacres. Menon with Narayanan role acted as Lord Krishna ‘in the loop’ sessions to deliver to SL’s Arjuna (Gothabhaya) a version of the Gita message to entrap and kill off the LTTE/Tamil demons. For Menon to continue to claim that Delhi’s respects for SL’s sovereignty explains its non-interference in SL affairs even to save Tamil lives is sacrilege. Dharmic pursuits seek ‘truth’but Menon’s repeated chanting of Rajiv’s killing mantra does not absolve the Narayanan-Menon duplicity in the cruel demise of the Tamil militancy.
In contrast the voices of the eminents (A Tutu, a Lee Kuan Yew) are unequivocal on the morality of the Tamil cause; the eminent Lee calling Rajapakse ‘a Sinhalese extremist ..They were squeezing them (Tamil) out. That’s why the Tamils rebelled’. This essence of the Tamil cause the mafia infected Delhi’s sadly misses. Under Delhi’s dharma Rajapakse (the deliverer) parades in the Delhi stages as its most valourous guest, whilst the hapless Eelam Tamils again face graver threats to their lives, and thanks to Delhi, the protection of the mandated UNHR is receding into distant horizon. Only the emergence of a dharmic and authentic Indian leadership reacting to check SL using the dreaded China card replacing the Mafia cult in Delhi will be the deliverance day for Delhi from SL blackmail and justice to the Tamil victims of the world’s most ruthless genocide.
